Darth Voorhees' Shadow scout build! FINALLY!

Recommended Posts

Hey folks i was able to aquire B-grade SC scout armor from a garrison mate so i can start a shadow scout! I did want to do the storm commando, and that will still happen, just later on down the road after i get my proper shop up and running as i'll have to make the armor and it will also need to go through the approval process...but for now i can be a standard Shadow scout and be a part of the Special Ops finally!

Looking forward to this build!

So the armor i got was here for a build and the previous owner decided to abandon the idea of a scout. So no shipping or waiting lol. It is B-grade SC armor. It has some orange peel on it in some spots. It needs a little sanding and to be painted, so now it will be painted black. I may grab the SC helmet from him as well for now, but not sure yet.

Gonna grab some black vinyl and a inexpensive pair of timberland style black work boots to make the boots. I have toms of material to make the cummerbund and i happen to have black fabric dye, so i'll probably make the bund first and then dye it. I'll sew it with black thread just to be sure i dont end up with white or grey stiching lol.

Shouldnt take long to get this one done :) Looking forward to being an offical TX!

Is the CRL up to date? Just wondering about the vest being optional. Im guessing its because the main reference didnt seem to have it? i mean i have a vest for my regular scout, but if its not needed for the shadow scout, that would be cool...one less layer lol

Because we're a little bit more laid back over here (the hard work gets done... what you look like doing it doesn't matter so much!), the vest is still an optional part on the standard CRL.

It's needed for Specialist though. You'll find with the Storm Commando that because it's ALL BLACK a lot of the detail gets lost, especially in lower grade photographs.

The key with this costume is texture. It's the subtle differences in texture and finish that make this costume come alive.

Using a satin or matte finish to the armour, accentuated with gloss highlights and detailing, helps create depth in the armour. Using differing materials in the bund and pouches and suit, say a coarse canvas for your pouches and a lighter twill for the bund helps create a contrast between those items and the armour.

If you keep this in mind you'll end up with a subtle yet highly detailed costume.

OH i like the idea of the matte/satin armor color but was thinking it had to be gloss. Thats definitely something to think about since im painting the armor. I have tons of canvas fabric for the cummerbund. Maybe i could do the pouches in a twill fabric? I may have some that would need to by dyed, or i can get a small amount for that. I like the idea of different fabrics to give it depth.

Vst is needed for specialist...got it! I do have the vest for my scout, so i can of course use it for this as well.

Im actually going to check the Specialist requirements and see if i can swing all of those details out of the gate :)

Hanging out on here makes me want to get a Shadow Scout kit BEFORE I get the standard TIE kit (whether I get Targ's chestbox/armour or get the TA one ...

As I'm interested in a weathered/used Scout, any tips on getting a grade SC kit? I might be able to pull that off better than an A quality.

hahaha apparently. Too bad most of my Garrison doesnt see that..but eh, haters gonna hate lol. The detachments are much more embracing to me. :)

Yea man ive had this thought in my head for a LONG time, but i just havent had cash for it. A garrison mate decided to sell that seconds SC armor for so cheap, i had to jump on it!

Nothing but love here Lou. Astromechs, kids in costumes, and TXs always steal the show so yeah, haters gonna hate ;)

Ok i ordered black vinyl to do the boots. I have a pair of black work boots i was using for my Jason Voorhees costume, but i rarely wear that and i should have a different style boot anyway, so they are going to the shadow scout instead :) I have plenty of black elastic and webbing and I grabbed the KS helmet from the same guy i got the armor from, so i am all set now...just gotta get it painted and together!

haha dunno if im gonna have it done for that just cuz i still have alot of commission jobs to finish up. I also am in the middle of upgrading a bunch of Fett stuff as well. But my regular Scout is coming with me to C7 :)

Has anyone seen these? They arent dead on but are pretty close! If we cant get a hold of our usual makers, they look like they would be a viable option, or good for a budget build. Right now they only have size small but they usually have all sizes. They are 9.99 free shipping! Not sure of the quality, but i mean for 9.99.....

They are on e-bay from seller longlifeleather

Search their listings for :

Mens Leather Motorcycle Biker Gauntlet Gloves New All Sizes #1003

Would these pass muster for basic shadow scout? I ask because i have em, and i like that they are slightly different than the usual scout gloves. I would of course add the suede and remove the strap.

I have my sitharmor gloves for my regular scout i can still use, but was just curious about what you guys thought of them over here. For 9.99 you cant go wrong.

i just messaged them and apparently they stopped making them...sigh..oh well. Was hoping to help out a few members on a budget, but they only have XS in stock and then they are gone. The do run big though. I usually get a medium and the smlls fit me well. A touch snug but they'll loosen up. I'll likely just use my sitharmor gloves from my regular scout for this one.
