Hi. When painting I like to use Griot's #3 polish and a "ball" style polishing head which I can fit into my cordless drill. I use this AFTER I have wet sanded my paint job...... JUST ENOUGH to knock down any overspray or rough surface. I polish with the Griot's #3, then buff the parts with a soft automotive finishing towel (also from Griot's). When I am satisfied with the finish I wipe the parts down with Griot's "Speed Shine" then buff one last time by hand with a similar towel. I use Novus on plastics such as acrylic capped and clear materials. The polishing ball is legit!

I can make em, It's two seperate lenses not a single, and I can do em in any material, you just gotta name the material and there's a minimum purchase so say if twenty dudes want lenses, we go in on a sheet and we bust out twenty sets. Just a thought

Not at all bro, by all means if you are able you should go for it. I myself am only able to get the textured back ABS locally and would also be pulling weirdness. Do or do not LOL!!!
-
Sick with it! Congrats bro!

If I had some 060 ABS I would do it. But it would have to be ordered in and would take a little time.

Blackhole / Shadow Stormtrooper Reference Pics Discussion
Scootch replied to izzi's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
May I present a late entry which may have allready been placed but I didn't see???? LOL! -
You mean the reference stuff found in this thread http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/3-novatrooper-elite-novatrooper-reference-pics/ Or pics of the armor pieces which would become the suit?
-
Agreed, We are Spec Ops and we have the material available to us. I think we should punk some stuff out and show the other detachments we do our homework too.

Anybody? Shade and I are currently working on a variant stormtrooper that looks like the computer game "Star Wars Galaxies" Nova Elite. Er I mean to say Shade contacted me and we both started looking at this particular trooper and thinking about it. He may be thinking along other lines but now I too am intrigued............ From the images the trooper seems to have ROTJ armour with the following exceptions being noted...... Hex handplates, button strip on ab is ANH ESB style (180 degree flip of ROTJ). Looking at the armour itself the butt and kidney plates seem to be one piece. the breast bone and arm armour looks ROTJ as well as the thighs and shins. The helmet is defo a ESB II or ROTJ looking piece, seems a bit narrow for ANH Hero. I think it would be punk rock to bring this guy to life and we have a kit available to begin, just looking for opinions, input, help. Thanks.

Freakin Rad! Is that an AM suit with one of the Polish man's helmets? Looks awesome! -
LOL I have experienced the smoker lid effect before! Awesome!!!
-
soooo scary!

Funny, I was slapping some tx lids together today and thought of doing a weathered up TX and Nova with a couple of them. I think it would be awesome, but then I love all things dirty and scuffed. If you're looking for scorch and ash detailing try "Notch Weathering Powder" found on ebay....... the kit has several types of weathering from sand to rust etc. Yep it has soot and ash too. Another trick is the liquid latex if you want "chipping". My .02 is a TX would look cool with some chipping giving way to grey or even a bit of white since the story I read was that the armor was "coated" with some Stygian whatever juice..................................

Silver solder is decent! LOL!!! Nice scope man! This blaster ought to be awesome when finished!

I use 1/2" quilting foam from the fabric store, looks like the stuff the OG's used. I start with a piece at the top of the lid, then I build it up in strips until I like the fit around my crown. It's easy and fast. I use warm hot glue to keep it in place, just a couple dabs here and there. Here's some pics of the first helmet I did for my boy, it's hideous but you can see the foam padding.... yeah I went overboard, it was my kid's lid.

Depends on the look you're after, I have shot them with color and no primer and ended up with a finish I liked, especially in black laquer. I'd say if you want it perfectly smooth then sand it and primer it.
