Patches, all 4 pouches, & belt got here today. The large pouch is the same as the CRL, but there is a lot taken off the front (can see the original lines in the CRL image). Is there an existung thread showing how it was done on the CRL example? I’m still waiting on the RK suit.
-
I realized the suit is not a “standard” imp coveralls/flightsuit. But ... at least it’s an easy coversion of a Red Kap suit. XL tall ordered.
-
I quite literally JUST discovered this kit exists. I have an extra suit, even. I have the belt, gloves, even goggles. I can whip up the harness quickly. I need to just sources patches (email sent) & pouches. Thanks! This is AWESOME!! Edit: So ... In 20 minutes: 2 patches ordered 4 MA47 pouches ordered 1 MOLLE gas mask bag ordered This should be approvable in a week or 2 ... I’m stripping cog patches off one of my Wampa TI flight suits (have 3), sewing the upper harness from 2” webbing material I got to make black flight harnesses (planned for a custom kit I never made), I have goggles from the eclipse, so done! All I need are parts to arrive.

I was away for a while ... Your post is extremely helpful to me. Once I dig out my Shadow Scout kit, & get it conpleted & approved, I plan to build a Storm Commando based primarily on the WEG illustration, with the bust that is clearly based upon it to fill-in details. I've been looking for a 3rd source to get an actual CRL made that fits. The figure with the armoured boots match the WEG image, but lack the thigh armour & other parts. Your timeline helps, as I had great difficulty dating the images. While off, I have approved: ANH TI Imp Gunner Naval Trooper & an working on: Imperial Baron Fel Rebel Baron Fel Rebel X-Wing pilot Wedge Antiles, X-Wing Mandalorian pilot Mandalorian privateer/boarder The shadow scout got packed away. I need to get it FINISHED!!

Jokr replied to Darman's topic in Inferno Squad Del Meeko
I'm neck deep in the facebook Inferno Squad development group, which I THINK is mostly JRS folks. I'm leaning toward Spec Ops being the correct place, but don't really care that much- as I want to be in both from other kits. Here is where I am at presently: TI: 181st pilot (approved) ANH pilot (just need to get images to get approved) Baron Fel: In progress, based on 181st, with new straps/belt & helmet, plus alternate shoulder patches- waiting on parts to arrive TX: Shadow Scout: own all parts, partially completed, but misplaced the main box storing the biulk of thd armour parts. Storm Commando: In planning stages, have mostly designed, just need to source/create shins & gaunlets (are NOT TK ones) Detachment questionable: Inferno: Have: base flight suit & materials. Not done yet, as may be irreversible if use iron-on 1" grosgrain stripe. I have 3.25 & 3.5" patches, but think theh should be smaller, to fit the visuals Belt: Need to complete TX/TB one from shadow scout, & waitng on a TK style. Helmet- on 2 waiting lists, one will be Inferno, other will be my made-up 312th "Dirt Devils" Boots/gloves- reuse my TI ones, though may buy a new glove pair for the split-bottom seen in trailer (etc) The present sense is that it is R1 armour & helmet, mostly TI, with the heavy using TK So, I can't simply mid what I've got .... -
Bump: Well, devolution happened! I'm still planning on doing a Storm Commando, despite thinking it was originally a mis-drawn scout in black. My bases: WEG image, from Galaxy Guide 9: Outer Rim Bust Figure with the hard boots (shows the leg backs) Those three seem to be all based on the WEG image, allowing the most consistency. Will need: (Upper body based on WEG image &, especially, the bust) Modded helmet (mainly visor sides) Retrimmed arm pieces Gaunlets Gloves with hand backing New belt Alternate cumberbund, with wider pockets Cod-piece (not sure best way to do this part) -SHOULD be (logically) black vinyl, but may need to do hard plastic Shins, wrap around, with "flaps" over the upper foot (catcher-style), integrated knee Not sure of thigh parts. If present, are front only (as shown by textures of the leg sides in WEG image). NOT on toy figure.

Is there any image resource for original props & what was done to them? I know some, but would like to see more details of the "real thing" ....
-
On the MP40, I discovered that one size PVC pipe fits tightly over the screw-on cap's (the hexed cap at the base of the skinny barrel) threaded base. So, I am planning 3 interchangable barrels: Original barrel, mod based on DL-44 (Mauser) Barrel length based on MP5-smooth finished, with detailed tip 24 inch barrel, based on one used in other long-barreled blasters (with holes) That should get me experience in several styles ....
-
As a side note ... Found this looking up images: Recognize the blaster there? (I mean the actual gun that the blaster is built from ....)

MP5: AirSoft Looks exactly like this one Has "silencer" like: Real world examples: The MP5 is probably the most common spec ops weapon worldwide, with only the M-16/AR-15 & AK-47 variants in the running.
-
MP40: airsoft (plastic) Real (same size)
-
My present MP40 plan: Replace barrel tip (part in front of hexed cap) with appropriate sized PVC flared end of pipe (only a few inches long) Remove clip & cap hole (make look like intentional) Scope on top track (similar in style to Boba's EE-3, from one of the lots I got), big end toward handle Put an extra mini-track I have, removed from another airsoft (fits holes on right side of clip holder). Put flashlight attachment (backwards), with end set to look like sensor. The hand fits around the clip base (with the flashlight reversed) well. What kind of greeblies should I add? Where?

I have gotten several airsoft items over the last year-ish. I'm going to try some customs, with the purpose of learning techniques & skills before trying to build more "canon" blasters and detonators from the films & EU. With my particular interest in Spec Ops, I'm looking to build blasters based on an MP5 (one of the most common modern spec ops guns in the world) from a metal airsoft I've picked up (one with a broken removable silencer). Also, as it was in many ways the precurser of the MP5, plus in the spirit of the WW2 (& German in particular) based Imperial blasters .... I've gotten a plastic MP40 to play with. I'm using the cheap Double Eagle base, with the track on top for a scope. As far as I've found yet, these didn't appear in any canon or EU sources. Is that correct? If not, what did they become? I'd love any recommendations on precisely HOW to make the conversion of the particular pieces. I want to make them as "accurate" (& in the SW spirit) as I can. Any recommendations or advise are welcome & appreciated.

I still want to do this .... Unless one appears in the new films, I'll do a 181st/Storm Commando blend- with primary leaning to 181st I'll do another chest box with red buttons. What does everyone think of a Scout helmet, with a hose coming out of the snout? I may contact SC about another helmet. So, plan, CRL-Style (for ease, not that that could EVER happen) Helmet: Plan 1: Typical TIE helmet (2 hoses) Plan 2: Scout helmet, in black- modified nose greeblie- to include hose junction Suit: 181st style, modified, slightly (made from my original planned 181st suit) Ribbed red stripe, dark cogs, knife holder in code cylinder pockets (front 2 slots) 181st flight vest (gray), with charcoal harness ALICE belt & suspenders, holds chestbox Chestbox-roughly 6x8, based loosely on 181st boxes (A & - buttons in red & mid/darker gray, rockers? (will see if guy who made my 181st ones can make me 3 in gray) Hose(s), helmet dependent, exit lower part of box sides, no 3rd hose Scout cumberbund, black (under harness), with pockets Room for it between vest & belt? Scout gloves Scout knee armour Scout arm armour? if so, which parts? T & forearm? Scout boots? Jack boots? A rough idea outline ...

I hope the devolution/delegation/localization/whatchamacallit happens. That would allow practical fine-tuning for practical application & accurization by those actually wearing & interested in the 500+ & growing approved costumes. I think it's a good idea.
