When you say fab and build, do you mean from scratch? Or do you mean you don't have time to put together a suit from one of the approved suppliers?

Split rivets can be used and are shown in the above image Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I've been approved with velcro, just make sure the outside edge is over the inside edge, if that makes sense? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh wow. I feel like I need to do this! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Am I right in thinking the battlefront Shadow Troopers wear a ROTJ variant black suit with a white cog on the chest? A Shadow Stormtrooper/Blackhole Trooper is, as you mentioned a black version of an ANH TK I don't know much about the older Shadow Troopers, didn't they carry light Sabers? Deciding between two armors
JimmyFilth replied to RagNoRock's topic in Armor/Soft Parts and Where to Find Them
I have a shoretrooper helmet from 850 works, which is a good kit, but it's an older version, so not as accurate as they're current version. I do not know what their TX armour is like but have been told their shoretrooper armour needs mods to be approvable, but is still good armour. There are other good makers such as WTF, ATA, RS propmasters etc... Your best option is to get a kit and build yourself, it really isn't that hard and ABS is easy to work with. As I believe the Black Series is based on Rogue One, so would need need an R1 set of armour, which I'm not sure how you'd go about. On the approved list is a guy/company called ATA that do a set of armour for $550 including helmet. There brow and S trim is also included. My Shadow Stormtrooper suit is ATA and it's a great kit. I think that is the cheapest I have seen a new suit for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I would also consider the price of a new suit when getting quotes from a paint shop, I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of a professional paint job went into hundreds of pounds Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It may be that the models I've seen with weathering have all been the same one. In relation to the matte/satin finish how much evidence would be needed to support it being allowed? The main appearance of a TX is in a comic/graphic novel, which I can't seem to get ahold of, so don't know if it specifies gloss, and the images are drawn so realistically could've either gloss or not. In battlefront they're shadow troopers and not black hole troopers. In the reference material thread there seems to be evidence of matte/satin finish, but is that enough for it to be canon? Further to that, Vaders suit is described as having a high shine that came from using woohoo hide, with no mention of that on the TX suits that I've seen Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So, I've been looking into the armour of the TX. All the wearable kits I have seen are shiny, but in the reference material they seem to be represented in both high gloss or a matt/satin finish. I can find no written reference, to this, but it does say the materials used to make their armour is also used in some Mandalorian armour, which is matt/satin. I've also seen models that look matt/satin with silver 'ageing' on them. This also seems to be confirmed that shadow scouts can be both gloss or matt. Can anyone confirm this as a matt shadow trooper with silver ageing would look awesome! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The parts will be with me in a month, fingers crossed it works out. Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm just going to do it for a bit of fun, I'm not a fan of the helmet for the kashyyk trooper. I'm going to vinyl wrap the plastic parts so I can peel it off and go for normal bike scout trooper and get approval after. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Finished the two... I now have a bike scout suit on order as plan to do an outside canon camouflage scout. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm just a complete amateur, in fact these pics show every experience I have ever had with ATA, in fact, any storm trooper kit but I have found the kits really good to work with and so happy with the results. I'm sure experienced members could pick a load of faults, but they'll lie with my build and not the kit! Haha

Ok, so my ATA shadow stormtrooper helmet arrived this morning so I've fitted the parts initially. Now going to take them apart so I can fit the internal electrics (I have a mic and wireless transmitter, plus the fans). Here it is at the minute, with the first layer of silver in the frown and the Matt black on the vocoder. Quick question, are the hovi-mics all black or do I leave the lip and internals white? I feel like all black is the way to go. Also, should they be Matt or gloss black?? Final question, do I still plaint the vent marks in the traps in black or just completely leave the traps unpainted? Here is my first helmet completely finished.

This is a very obscure question that I can't find the answer to (again, may be by lack of ability to search). I have been advised that the tube stripes on a shadow storm trooper can now be blue and have been told that this is confirmed as canon because on the new Star Wars: Battlefront this is the case. Thing is, the shadow stormtroopers have a white imperial cog on the chest plate. Does this mean this would also be canon?
