The Anaheim definitely looked more raw than the Launch Bay ones so I also consider those plus references to be the best.
-
Good catch! That photo was prepped so it should just be a swap.

Awesome, thanks! Thanks to everyone who helped figure out this damn costume too. I don't see it yet on the spec ops listing. Does that take time to update? http://databank.501st.com/databank/Specops_CRL

Wow, ambitious! I might eventually enlarge mine, although it fits pretty well on my body. I kinda want to see how trooping this thing goes before dumping a bunch more work into it. Best of luck!

One thing to note - I figured out that it's sitting at http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TX_TFA_flametrooper. I want to make sure the photographer credit goes to Chad Turner, my buddy who donated a few hours of his time to take all the photos. Also - I assume I still apply like normal? It's a little strange being the CRL model and then submitting your costume. Is it an auto-approval? Thanks folks!

So you're telling me there's a chance...
-
Awesome! How long do the reviews typically take?
-
Ok, I added those two. Let me know if those are good. I had forgotten to mention too that I was assuming we'd use the boot, glove and neck seal pics from the FO TK since they're the same.
-
I'll get those two pics up hopefully tonight.
-
Thanks! I'm excited to get us all official!
-
Oh, and I forgot. All photo credits go to my buddy, Chad Turner. He donated his time.

And... she's done! I wouldn't mind not seeing Photoshop for quite some time. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bx3hhQ2CwEKacTJjeW1PTnB1Ukk

I'm cutting the last photo now so all CRL photos will be prepped and ready by tonight!
-
Here's the back. We'll get the rest sliced up soon. Don't use the shared images here since they are photobucket, but we have a drive folder that Steve has access to that will have all of the high res transparent images to use for the CRL.
-
Yeah, for sure. I'm picking out the ones that I think are best and then I'll share a Google Drive folder where you can jump in and help. Thanks!

Got pics taken today of the full armor and all the parts so we're getting close! Still have to cut a ton of them out so it'll be a few days before I have those ready. Pretty happy with them so far though.

I really like the brightness. How long does it last on a 9 volt? I've done a bright LED before and found it to be a short life span, and with the pack on the back you can't exactly switch it on and off. Looks great though!

Camprandall's Flametrooper Build
camprandall replied to camprandall's topic in First Order Flametrooper
Ok, after a little two week break out of town, I'm finalizing some pieces in preparation for CRL pics and finishing this thing off. Here's what I've done so far. I added some screw details around the tanks generally in the area where they appear to be. It really gives it more of a "real part" look. I modified my back brace to be a bit more detailed like Mark's because I like the straps and the more cut out effect. Since the toy is the only thing we have at all to go on and we want a pic for this in the CRL, I figured it best to have something that looks closer to some kind of reference instead of largely made up. I added the under tank chain. I added the opaque/white tubing details, which also adds a feel of authenticity to the thing. I didn't attach the bottoms permanently though because I'd like to get better shots of what that small undertank connection looks like before committing to it. -
Camprandall's Flametrooper Build

Thanks! A few more touches and it's all wrapped! -
Ok, sounds good. So Todd, what did you use for the LEDs and covers? Is this in a thread somewhere? I'd still like to do it at some point.
-
I don't mind putting LEDs in my kit at some point, but since they don't always have to be on, I don't think they should be required as part of the base level CRL. We don't require them for the FO TK blasters. If it needs to stay in, that's fine but I'll need to order parts and cut the tank open before taking CRL pics. I believe that would be the last thing I need to do, but I won't be able to get the stuff and do that kind of surgery by the weekend.
-
Mark, I've got a photographer coming to take pics of all the parts on Saturday so between getting those prepped and then the detachment leaders polishing and finalizing the wording, hopefully it will get done pretty quick here.
-
I think what's tricky is that the real pics confirm it's not full length, but they don't clearly lay out exactly what the pieces look like. The back and inside of the pack is just tricky territory to be too specific about I think. If you look at the few packs people have built, I think they all look pretty good and give an accurate "feel". Given that it's a complex accessory with a lot of hard to see parts, I think a little flexibility here is a good thing.
-
Yeah, not sure of this kind of detail. I will eventually make mine a bit more accurate, but I certainly don't want to chop it up right now if I can avoid it. I suppose we need a call from Todd on that one. I personally think it doesn't change the look of it much at all so it shouldn't block approval, but tough to say. It's also something that is never really seen on film. It reminds me of the differences in E-11s where some have coils and some don't. The gun looks really authentic, but there are some details that make it more accurate.

Thanks, these are real helpful. I'll get it somewhere close to this.
