  1. Wow thats interesting. I knew about the video game and the "realistic" versions but thats strange. Either way it will get done eventually. Thanks for the info. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  2. Do you know if the vest is required for level 2 as well even though its not on the CRL? Chef put up something about it on 2015 but I havent seen anything else. Was just curious sinse that it the end goal as well and for anyone else that ever does this build. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  3. Ok well Im glad I didnt miss it or something. I will do some looking around after celebration and see where I can get one. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  4. Ok cool that will help with the forearms. No I dont have a vest...It is not anywhere on the CRL so I didn't believe I needed one? I found it odd but didnt question it lol. Ya I am probably going to darken it up a little. Was trying to keep it the same color as the knees and cummerbund but I think you're right with it being too bright. Thanks for the feedback! 5. Some more boot progress photos. Again just for anyone wondering the tutorial is easily found on the pathfinder detachment website. Feel free to ask any questions. Also if anyone here is attending celebration next week come find me! Ill be sporting this bad boy around. I will be in a borrowed flight suit sinse mine has not arrived still and its a little bigger. I also posted a photo front and back of me with everything minus boots. I know its a little baggy but let me know if everything else is good. Thanks!! Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  6. Look who can finally sit down. Oh where oh where is my flight suit I wonder..... Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  7. Just have to secure the lens Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  8. While I wait for the finishing touches of the helmet, here are some pics of the boot build. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  9. Helmet is put together (roughly). Making some adjustments as I type. But here are the most recent pics. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  10. Went ahead with the helmet assembly. Hoping it turns out right! Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  11. Lol seriously? Well geeze. Thats good to know for the future at least. I just got done putting those dang 35mm straps in too for the biceps and the shoulders haha Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  12. I do have a question about the CRL though. For the helmet (level 2) it says the snout is supposed to be black? All pictures ive seen the whole thing is grey with a black backing. If anybody could clarify that would be awesome! Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  13. Biceps and the shoulders take those 35mm black elastic which nobody has(for level 2)! I had to order from online. Didnt want to have to redo straps lol Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  14. Test fit #1. Coming along. Still waiting for flight suit to arrive. Boots are close to completion as well. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  15. Here we are. Primed, painted, and protected. Any input? Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  16. Ok so here we go! The primer dries almost instantly. I put some green on. Sinse it is dark here I took a few with the flash but the the darker green without the flash is really the color of the paint that I had tested in the beginning. Having an armor party in 2 weeks so hopefully I can get some extra hands on the assembly! Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  17. All but 4 pieces to be sanded and primed. Started out with 800 grit sandpaper to get the primer to stick. Next we will move to 1000 for the green followed by 2000 for the clear gloss. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  18. Finally the armor is set to arrive momentarily. The sanding and painting is set to begin. Still no word on the flight suit that was mailed 14 days ago from Bolivia. Who knows the ETA for that. But patience is a virtue! Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  19. Cummerbund update: -Fixed the stitching. Looks much better. Flight suit mailed out today and boots are ongoing. Will post pictures soon. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  20. Well while I redo the chevron on the cummerbund this is the gray paint I found that matches the cummerbund the closest for the knee armor. The green strip is the color that closest matches the vinyl with the boots that will be the rest of the armor. Thoughts on the color? Thanks! Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  21. Thank you for the feedback sir! I will make the necessary adjustments to the cummerbund. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
  22. *Update on cummerbund CRL* The question was resolved per Steve (Darth Emphatic) our DL, that 5 or 6 vertical lines are allowable which is the same as 6 or 7 vertical stitch lines. An update to the CRL is pending to show this. Thanks Steve!!
  23. Ok. Depending on how you see the pictures, the first one is the clear matte finish over the green. It doesnt feel any different but it looks like it gives a leather texture. The second one is a semi gloss finish. Clearly a little more shiny but much smoother. So I'm leaning more towards the semi gloss right now. -In other news - the cummerbund is in! It fits perfect and looks great. All I have to do is attach the pouches to it. **However - The CRL states for the swamp trooper that there must be 6 vertical lines? The CRL for the Biker Scout says 6 vertical stitches. As does the CRL for shadow scout says 5-6 ribs. And other builders have 5 lines with 6 stiches as well. Even the post on the swamp trooper CRL and specialist requirements state that under the soft parts for specialist posted by Chef state there should be 6 or 7 stitches giving 5 or 6 raised areas between pouches for the swamp trooper. So not sure if this is just a simple typo in the CRL on the 501st site but something that should be looked into. Even if going off the reference photos it shows the video game character had what appeared to be 8 ribs with 9 stitches...?** Anyways, after all that heres some pics of the cummerbund!! 24. Oook! Cummerbund will be here Wednesday. No word on flight suit as of yet but I expect it in about 2 weeks. Now on to the paint matching task. I have taken the green vinyl I have purchased on etsy with me to 4 different stores: Lowes, Home Depot, Sherwin Williams Paint, and of course Walmart. And of course at Walmart was the only spray paint I found that was the closest. Uploaded is a picture of a strip of red abs that I tested this paint and primer on. Its NOT a PERFECT match but its one of the closest I can find. The paint blends perfect with the abs. Now I'm not sure if the red abs affects the finished color but I dont think it did since I used primer first. Also a bit of information, it doesn't appear that they make these spray paints in semi gloss. So that being said I'm stuck using gloss due to the crl stating it must either be semi or gloss. So I think I am going to try using a matte clear coat to turn the shiny down a little which may help the color match a little bit more. But we will see when I test again. Let me know your thoughts! 25. Wampa wear gloves arrived safe today. Only thing that needs to be done to them is to cut the hooks off of the sides of them that are used to clip them together. Also found a balaclava at a place called sun and ski sports. Since it is summer year round in Houston, this is basically the only store you can find it in thats available year round and cheaper than what you will find on the internet. Now we wait for the cummerbund and the flight suit. Both should be another 2 - 3 weeks. Will post a picture of the boots as they are built. Step by step instructions for the boots can be easily found on bikerscout.net under the boots tutorial. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
