Okay so I have a question regarding all this talk about ground and pilot variants. Is it possible that they are the same characters with removable chest boxes? If you look at the trooper with the bandolier that kicks the Rebel. Then in the scene where the Death Star II explodes it appears to be the exact same trooper asking the Commander what they are gonna do. The only difference is that he is wearing the chest box. So why don't we consider the chest box to be an optional piece?

Thanks for posting these. I'm noticing some pretty significant differences between what we see in the game trailer and the image from the cover of the book. First thing that jumps out at me is that the commander has two pauldrons instead of one on the book. Next her belt is different, the stripe on her flightsuit looks like 3 individual stripes instead of one. Then the soldier with the longer hair on the left of the cover has the imperial cog on their shoulder instead of the squad patch

Agreed. Although they do have chest boxes too.

I'd like to point out that the chest armor they are wearing is TK chest armor not TIE chest armor. TK chest armor has a curve at the bottom while the TIE armor is flat along the bottom edge. Also the shoulder straps are TK shoulder straps. The connection for the straps on the back plate are the same as the TK connections from Rogue One.
