  1. They have a lot of pictures on their Facebook page and I believe there is a tutorial somwhere on there. I'm actually in the process of redoing the back, chest, and abs with their newest version. I can try to take pictures as I'm doing it.
  2. It's finally official. After lots of mods and adjusting I am TX-24711. My second 501st approved costume to go along with my TK. Helmet is KB Props Armor is a combination of 850 Armor Works and Tom's 3D files Under Suit is from Jim (Jimmiroquai). Here is a picture from a couple of months ago at a Con. Still had some minor things to go (like getting the correct blaster). I plan to get better pictures soon.
  3. I've modified a lot since my last post. Still need to add some things for basic approval submission, but it's getting there. Changed out the chest and back for the larger version, repainted everything to match, and 3d printed forearms since they are longer and fit me. Trooped with it last night at the Braves Star Wars night. Need to do something to keep the forearms up higher as well as 3d printing the TD because the one that I have weighs a lot. 4. The shins are definitely longer (I think by about 3 inches). I'll have to measure the forearms as mentioned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. For my TK? AM is made for "bigger" people, but I don't think that means longer too. The shins and the forearms don't seem much longer than normal, but I feel like it's okay. The DT forearms actually feel shorter than the TK, but I think it's more to do with the biceps shape being different. I'll measure them and find out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. It's still to be determined on if it will pass the CRL. Kevin may be able to chime in, but I believe he had issues with the Shoretrooper and not showing enough definition with the thicker, more durable ABS as well as it being smaller. He created a new version to meet the standards and passes approval. If the first version DT doesn't pass I'll have to get the new version I guess. I'm 6'6" so the added length in the shins is awesome compared to my AM 2.0 for the TK (which is still decent). Disregarding CRL guidelines, the material and pull itself were comparable to my TK and he's been very helpful throughout the build process. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I was trying to get it wearable for the premier. I was on the first run of both, but the helmet was available a month or so prior to the armor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Waiting on the CRL to be finished and will begin working on required modifications. I'll post updates when that happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. So here it is with no under suit, still missing some things and a laundry list of tweaking to do. I loved every minute of it though. Suit and helmet fit fine and were very comfortable. I'll post more build pictures soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Are you guys doing the 1 snap cod piece to two snap butt the same as a TK? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks Mark. I just wanted to make sure that I was looking at it correctly. It feels odd to have it against you after wearing the TK belt so much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Question, does the belt rest mainly on your actual body/undersuit? It looks like it barely covers the top of the butt plate and the cod piece. Maybe a little of the power back plate also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks for the advice. Here are some pictures of the helmet and some work done to it.
  14. Thanks Tony and Mark. I've only built the TK (by myself with the help of your threads Tony) so I'm a novice builder. I'll be honest, I've had a ton of issues right up front with the the lens in the bucket and it is all self inflicted. I proceeded to snap the lens that came with the lid from KB in half. The ridge that you glue the lens to in the helmet is very small and I've struggled with how to do it. It was totally different and easier in the TK helmet. The lens edge isn't 100% perfectly square on the inside and I'm afraid to sand it down, so I'm attempting to make the lens fit the shape. I bought a welding shield and have cut it to fit the one I broke. My plan is to heat it up in boiling water to shape it, then I think I may attempt hot glue first to get it in place (since crazy glue seems to eat through color). Should I hot glue the entire thing or just get it all in place and use e6000 or will it have the same effect that crazy glue does on the color?
  15. I've spoken with a lot of you through FB and on some of the FB groups, but I figured it was actually time to start a build thread. Between grad school and work, getting time to post progress has been a struggle. I've obtained the hard parts and am pushing to make the premier minus the blaster and CRL approved undersuit (will be wearing the TK for it). I'm 6'5 and fit the build of the DT, so I'm excited to have something that appears as it does in the movie. Armor: 850 Armor Works Helmet: KB Props Boots: Dr. Marten Talib Gloves: As of right now, Nomex Blaster: will be 3D printed via a purchased model, just won't have the time to complete before the premier. Up to this point, I've painted the helmet and am working on the electronics. All of the armor has been sanded and prepped for assembly. 3D printed pieces have been painted. Forearms are done, one thigh is done, fronts of shins are done. Back and chest are connected. Needless to say, I have a long way to go and a short time to get there, but I'll make it. I'll post some progress pictures and what everything looks like in the next day or two. -Dustin
  16. awesome find though! Thanks for following up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Just saw this post. I wear a 13, would you mind following up? Can you post pictures of your boots and do you mind me asking what the cost was?
  18. Looks like Sister Margarets won't be offering DT after all. Cited complexities in making it. Edit: they are making initial runs
  19. It was posted on social media, but I wanted to post it here for others to reference. This shop appears to be working on the soft parts: https://www.facebook.com/sistermargaretsgasketemporium/
  20. Mark - Looks like the Jered's are a no go: "Thank you for your email. Unfortunately the Jered boot is indeed a discontinued style. As far as I know we are not going to be bringing it back. Have you tried a third party site like Zappos? I'm so sorry I don't have better news." Guess we are going Talib style until a manufacturer makes these custom.
  21. I'm not sure if anyone has done it yet (so many groups and threads to follow for this build), but I've sent an email to Dr. Marten's regarding the future availability of the Jered boot. I'll post the reply if/when I receive one.
