Well I desided to paint fist. I figure after a add damage effects to it I'll use some brown/rust color on the "burned" sections and leave the white scratch's and white edges where I plan to cut pieces out. Just finished putting the second coat of flat black paint on, which I think the flat black is really going to help with the "aged" look. Once it dries I'll start adding the "burned/scorch" damage. I'll try to post some pics when I'm done.

That looks sweet. Can't wait to see it finished! -
Ok, I'm somewhat torn between painting then damaging the armor or damaging then painting. With a stormtrooper armor you either paint the cracks black or add color damage. But I was thinking that painting first then doing the damage would show the white under the black paint to give it more damaged highlights against the black. Thoughts?

I'm going to do a helmet just not yet.

I couldn't believe how long it took for me to find just the right one. Over a hour online. Lol $34 with free shipping.

I don't know if this pic will work using my iphone, but here is the zombie mask I bought for the costume... http://s91.photobucket.com/albums/k317/drthmrl/?action=view¤t=2DB3974F-345D-4264-A777-33661B720589-513-0000004CB33A33D9_zps4224dc01.jpg&evt=user_media_share

I thought maybe addi g a torn/ripped piece of cloth to hid the straps that would hold the limb in place...

But I just thought about something. I'm not going to put a hole in my cumberbun. Lol

I like the tree idea. Don't have 2 iPod's or else I would do that. :-)

Yeah I'm still going black. Got most of the trimming done last night. Gonna finish it up today and get started on the flat black painting. Was thinking of just dry brushing a thin coat of brown over the black in spots then doing the same with a olive green color. Then use a soldering iron to make burn lines and holes.

Change of plans. Desided to trim then paint. Pictures will come later tonight on WIB!

Ok, the armor has arrived. Now to get the paint and get started. Anymore suggestion's?

Welcome dude. Studio creations is where my shadow scout came from and I couldn't be happier with it.

Ok thanks to Chef I'll be getting the armor by next week. Thanks dude! Now, I know that I'm going to paint the armor first then start to "damage" it. I was thinking maybe I should use a flat black paint as opposed to the shiny gloss to give it more of a weathered and beat up apparence. Thoughts?

Oh I'm gonna have armor damage. Going to look at a lot of pics of damage from zombie movies to see what would be best.
-
Yup. Good point.

Good point Chef. A little blood but mostly mud. Mud is easy to come by :-), and will be good to add that "weathered" look. I don't think I'm going to use a bucket either, atleast not yet, just a zoombie type mask with a torn and somewhat bloodied baklava. Anymore idea's? These are great tips guys!

That's one of things I was thinking about. How much if any. I guess it should depend on the amount of damage and where the damage will be on the armor. As in near what veins and such.
-
Thanks. Think I'm going to try a shadow death scout, since I can use the soft parts from my shadow scout. What do you guys think? I'm probably gonna need some suggestions on how to pull it off. Main thing would be blood stains. Since it'll be black armor, how would I go about it. And what would you recommend the weathering of the black color armor. According to the CRL for the death trooper, the white armor is supposed to have a "olive green" tint to show age. Any tips or ideas are most welcome!

I'm on the hunt now for anyone that has damaged or extra gear they want to get rid of. I found a few pictures online of people that have done it.
-
Cool thanks guys. Maybe I can find more reverence material for approval when I finish.

I wa wondering if anybody has seen a "deathscout" or only deathtroopers? I haven't read the novel so I don't know if they ate mentioned in it or not. The reason I'm asking is becuz I'm having a hard time finding damaged tk pieces to make the deathtrooper I was originally going to do. But I know many tb's that I can get pieces from.

If you use the wielding one I believe you need the #5 material right? I know there different ones that are lighter or darker in tint right?
