I think an issue might be that hats always look different on people. It could be the same hat but because it's on a different person's head it is appearing different. I like the imperial hat description (i think you took from Meero's) because of the detail. It gives approximate dimensions which i like. Either work though.

I think they would be all the same hats. They look it at least to me. Using the same text as what is seen in Dedra's or other ISD CRL's would make sense. If we can, I'd say copy the text straight from another CRL in regards to the hat so there would be no confusion?

Similar to Ryan, I use military helmet padding. I've gotten what Ryan's linked which works great, but after some testing i personally preferred these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C5CKP597?ie=UTF8&th=1 Either would work great, imo.

I have purchased 2 kits from Jim (Praetorian and Wrecker). Good quality and also he response pretty quickly to questions regarding his armor.
