It was packed fairly well, however I think it protects it while he is building it. That way it isn't accidentally scratched by a tool or something, it is panted HIPS so novus won't work on it.
-
I second this, I had to take my ear caps off to remove it entirely. Apparently they were put on over the wrap so there was a bunch underneath them.
-
They aren't pre-built. Once you order it you have to wait for him to make it. This will take a month or so.
-
You can order It with padding. The padding is really nice and I prefer it to helmet liners.
-
I have one and its a great helmet.

Only score and snap on pieces like shims or very wide pieces. For any precise work,e.g. the bucket, use those curved lexan body scissors made for RC car bodies. I used them to trim 90% of my armor, and scored and snapped the shims and cover strips. Some people recommend tin snips, I tried several types and felt they were too large and clumsy to make precise cuts.

You can get AM kits atm without a problem. Also, ATA has made to order kits availible (I just received some parts from him).
-
The full vs lite kit is about $120 difference I believe. He can get a more accurate ata/cap-w helmet for about the same price. So his budget should have nothing to do with which helmet he is able to get. I don't think we should be encouraging people to get a less accurate bucket.
-
Do NOT get the AM bucket. When I got my kit I got the full just for fun and built the helmet. It is gigantic, unless you have some sort of giant growths on your head you don't need to worry about your head not fitting in a smaller more accurate bucket.

I use an esb style holster because I have several costumes that use it plus a few more coming up that will also use it. It makes swapping very easy and I don't need to buy a holster for each costume since it isn't fixed. It really comes down to if you plan to get more costumes or not. For just two I would say fix it permanently and save yourself the pain of the slipping around on the belt.
-
You will likely want to replace the AM bucket anyway. Unless you are around 6'2" or taller (or around 250 lbs or more) it just won't look right. Not to mention most of the legion frowns on using it because of how inaccurate it is. You will want to replace it with an ATA.

They are more comfortable than the amsterdams. Those feel like wooden soles, these conform to my feet better, they are also a wider shoe. I needed more comfortable shoes for the droid hunt lol. At SDCC I kept getting runners and had to chase them down to get the badge and my shins kept popping. This should solve that problem and keep my feet from experiencing excruciating pain.

I just picked these up for CVI. I originally tried to purchase the barnstormers but they no longer carry sizes over 10. These are identical in design and height to the barnstormers. Get them through shires-equestrian.co.uk or through: ebay. They are cheap and the shipping was around $15 from the UK. These are a great alternative to the bass amsterdams as they have a higher ankle and won't pop out of shins.

That's actually worse looking than I thought. I wouldn't use alcohol on that it might ruin the finish. Honestly I don't know how to remove it without making it look work, hopefully someone else has a better suggestion.

It's its hot glue, e6000 or any other type of rubber cement you can scrap it off easily. If it is abs cement or similar you are screwed.

You should consider just getting a new chest/back and shoulder bells from ATA guy. I just got mine from him and I really like how they fit me compared to the AM/FX ones. You wouldn't need to reshape the ones you have now plus you'd have a separate set you can use for the gunner, which is what I plan on doing. -

looks good. Try attaching a piece of elastic to the inside of the ab to the chest to pull it down. Also make sure you attach elastic between the chest and back under your arms on each side. -
That's fine. Mine is also like that and you only notice it when looking at the bottom like that. From any other angle it's impossible to see. When you go with HIPS that's what you get. Don't worry about it and don't try to disassemble it.
-
You should remove most of the return edges as the AM has huge ones. Keep the edges on the chest, back, ab and kidney plates. On everything else you can pretty much completely remove them.

I'm back! (I was too new to be missed in the first place)

I agree with Rob. LFL entering into armor making is a sign that they are going to try to make a a direct profit off the 501st when we give them free publicity. It's basically like a kick in the face as far as I'm concerned and is a direct threat to all the fan made armor because of licensing issues that are going to arise. As Rob said they should just leave it as it is, nothing good can come from this. RS already has an original suit, there is no need for officially licensed armor other than milking the legion for more money and controlling us more directly in an attempt to monopolize the entire fan market. It doesn't matter what they "say" they are going to do, in the end all they care about is money and it's going to show if this continues. -

I don't think there's much to be done about that. -

Looks good so far, awaiting new pictures. -
I have 2 squirrel cage fans and 3 9v batteries in mine. They last about 4 to 5 hours. I don't think one is enough for 2 fans.
-
The fans may be 12v fans but 12v batteries of that size do not last long at all. You'd be better off using 9v batteries, the fans will run at almost the same speed but for much longer.
-
That's what I'm saying, I'm sick of all the over pricing so these people who call this a "hobby" can make a big fat tax free profit.
