  1. Hey Keith! Studio Creations may be the way to go. Their armor is slightly larger than some of the other armor makers. Or at least had been in the past. The MC kit is smaller.
  2. Will be watching this thread with great interest Clint! Cant wait to see the finished rig.
  3. Looking at the FX helmet situation, if we remove it from the CRL (which we should to mirror the official Legion ruling) we will probably not be able to grandfather any new kits coming in. I know the LMO at the time would review the FX kits on a case by case basis for those that were in the approval queues throughout the Legion at the time. Unfortunately, that's ancient news now as far as costumes are concerned. Should we grandfather the costumes when they transfer from owner to owner? Yes, without a doubt. But we may not have the ability to do that anymore. Now for having two CRLs for the same costume, with standards specific to the FX suit and the newer screen derived suits, looks great in my head. But on the CRL page on the Legion website its going to be a nightmare and confusing to the average Joe stormtrooper recruit coming in and trying to figure out which standards to go off of. For members of the detachment it will be easy to distinguish between the two. But for the guys that have no idea this forum exists and builds the costume on their own without our guidance (which plenty of them still do), would not be good in the long run.
  4. I ended up using Fiebings Red Leather Dye on mine and coated over them with Fiebings Red Acrylic Leather Paint. I need to buff them yet but they turned out really nice. I got it from Tandy Leather and Fiebings (they are based in Milwaukee so its close to home here) Also, I started with white pair of tk boots from TKBoots. I didn't have the black boots like you have to start with. Heres the link, but obviously get the red http://shop.fiebing.com/c/leathercraft_dyes_acrylic-dye?pkey=8e425671e9271ecb602c15fe526bb171&ckey=72706.72707.72766.0.0
  5. The pieces in the bicep CRL picture are the spats between the calves and the boots. Also, on the inner piece of the forearm looks like it is longer than the outside. The inner forearm should not extend past the edge of the outer forearm. I would also add the language for the finn mod to the forearms being acceptable once it gets to that point. That vastly increases your mobility in the arms and prevents the forearms from resting on your thumbs and cutting off circulation with the gaskets on.
  6. Rob's belts are the best around. Thats where I got my red one at and it matches the armor pretty closely.
  7. I want to upgrade my canvas pouches to leather pouches. Is there a place to find these on the net? My first thought was to hit up a couple local gun shows and military surplus stores to see if I can find some but I have a feeling all the surplus stuff is going to be canvas as it was the last time I did some digging around. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  8. I will post some more pics soon. I been caught up in another project for c7 that's taken all of my time lately and Ive been fixing my nova too. But I have the thighs most of the way together and I have the back and the chest ready for test fitting.
  9. I can tell you from my own first hand experience with dying boots red. I've been trying since October. Magma armor red is unbelievably hard to match in leather. These, although they look off as pointed out, are the best thing I've seen without just spray painting the boots to get the proper color.
  10. I cheated with the tube stripes. I used a template, but I must have used too much paint so everything bled. I had to take them off and use decals. The rest of the helmet is free hand. I may redo the stripes on the traps on the back of the helmet. My hand was shaky when I did it the first go round.
