tk8428[501st]
i want to do a storm commando but im not sure what the differance is if any? can anyone help Link to comment
troopre[TX]
I've seen what we have listed as a shadow scout referred to as a storm commando in another reference. There is another, more armored, reference listed as a storm commando in the comics and with some of the figures. Gentle Giant is coming out with a premier guild bust that is of their rendition of the storm commando. This bust exhibits more armor than the shadow scout, but retains much of the SS's attributed (helmet, chest, back with hump, etc). To be honest, I've not thoroughly and painstakingly researched the differences, so hopefully someone else can offer more insight into this topic. Link to comment
Fivezero[TX]
Here's a quick comparison pic for ya: The Storm Commando has some more armor including thighs, shins and forearms. The helmet also has variations from the regular Scout helmet. I was thinking about doing this one day as well so I've done some research into what needs to be made. Fivezero Link to comment
DruidicRifleman
Looks like it would be simply additional armour issued for situations where It's warrented where the lesser armour of the shadow scout armour would be a liability... Link to comment
troopre[TX]
I can take a screen shot, but when I was on SWG, I believe they had the shadow scout tagged as a storm commando. Also, the gentle giant bust has what appears to be a more traditional shadow scout helmet than the modified one depicted above. Also, he has the forearm armor and not the typical scout style gauntlets Link to comment
Fivezero[TX]
SWG does call it a Storm Commando, but the game also calls some other troopers some weird names (Blackhole trooper = Stormrifle, Novatrooper, Stormsurgeon, Bombardier, etc.) Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
Sounds like typically galaxies to me Link to comment
dartoftruth[501st]
Huh, interesting bust. The left arm looks like it has different armor as well....almost looks like scout forearm plates, but with two straps. Are there any 360 views? Link to comment
Darth Agnon[501st]
Might be the first time I've seen an E-11 being used with the folding stock out. Link to comment

I can have detailed photos.. whenever they get around to sending me my bust, but until then, I've reposted what images I was able to find. Link to comment
tk8428[501st]
thanks guys looks almost like tx forearms and gloves, wonder if the leg armour is tx too.. Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
The shoulder and bicep armor is different though Link to comment
tk8428[501st]
yeah but they'd be easy to build just need some good ref on leg armour now comic ones are hard to pin down the figure looks good. i like the holsters on the gg figure too that would looks so cool Link to comment
troopre[TX]
it seems the brandished weapon would be the E-11 (rifle) with extended stock. The holstered one would likely be the carbine version, and with what appears to be a different scope. Also, as far the muddied-water between the storm commando and shadow scout is concerned, here's something to help make things clear as mud.. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Shadow_scout They state, "The storm commandos, also known as Imperial commandos or shadow scouts, were elite members of a branch of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps." They go on to say, "They were typically deployed into squads that consisted between three to six commandos. However, in certain missions that were considered suicide, squads consisted only of one or two individuals. They were normally deployed on operations against enemy leaders ranging from assassination to capture missions as well as destroying any important facilities used by their foes. They were even known to take part in assassination missions against a target". Not that any of these posts should be considered definitive proof or that those who post on this sight are by any means experts, but I do believe it has been used as a reference before (but dont quote me on that). tk8428[501st]
Yeah been reading that and it basically says there is no real difference and it is likely they used different armour/ equipment dependant on job. I do like the look of that gg armour and holster tho. Just got to convince my gml now lol Link to comment
troopre[TX]
I noticed the flap on the back-side(specialist version) is on the outside, seeming hanging from the the back of the belt (immediately below the thermal detonator). It's supposed to be under the cummerbund/thong strap. If they're going to do that, why not just make it a full-on kamma? Link to comment
tk8428[501st]
Yeah bit of a cock up i think lol Link to comment

Darth Agnon[501st]
Looking over that figure really good....I'd say that with the amount and the way the under armour wrinkles...It's probably supposed to be leather. Fabric doesn't wrinkle like what's shown. The belt and hanging boxes are also much different than a regular Shadow Scout. The thermal detonator is longer than the normal scout version. Only problem is that as extremely well detailed as this is...it doesn't show the bottom half to complete this artist's version. Link to comment
tk8428[501st]
Yeah its a shame about the legs Link to comment
izzi[TX]
They state, "The storm commandos, also known as Imperial commandos or shadow scouts, were elite members of a branch of the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps." Yep, we've separated the Shadow Scouts fro Storm Commandos here, because the armor ranges from black scouts to brand new armor with scout-like parts. Shadow Scouts = Black Scouts, Storm Commandos = New specialized armor type. Un fortunately there has never been any really great references to build from, and the new GG statue kind of makes things even less clear. -iz Link to comment

Some show scout chest pieces with standard cummeerbund, while others show armored ab and cod with a different chest. There is even a difference between the GG bust and the action figure, as far as detial of the bicep pieces and the appearance of the helmets. Between the artists and figures and busts, it's going to be a bumpy ride. Link to comment
