uncharted
Hi, I am new to this forum. I need some advice on helmets. It seems AM bucket is not that accurate as its armor. I am still undecided whether to go with the full kit or the lite one. Is AM bucket 501 approvable without major modifications? What other sources of bucket would you recommend? Thank you very much. dartoftruth[501st]
I personally don't know a ton about the TK buckets, but I'd check out http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/122-how-to-pick-a-tx-bucket/ Link to comment

I probably have to go with AM bacause of my x-large head... Many thanks Link to comment
toddo[TX]
Don't get the helmet. It is considered similar to the FX buckets and frowned upon in the Legion. TK helmets have enough space in them, so don't be afraid to score an accurate helmet. Link to comment
uncharted
I should have clarified I am inquring about TX helmets... Link to comment
dartoftruth[501st]
I should have clarified I am inquring about TX helmets... They are the same bucket, for the most part, just a different paint job. I think. Link to comment
RaiderNick[TX]
Do NOT get the AM bucket. When I got my kit I got the full just for fun and built the helmet. It is gigantic, unless you have some sort of giant growths on your head you don't need to worry about your head not fitting in a smaller more accurate bucket. Link to comment

toddo[TX]
There are a number of options for helmet kits that are great. Some cost more than others. The two most affordable are CAP-W and ATA. Link to comment
Darth Agnon[501st]
The AM bucket is approvable without modification. Most of the Legion still uses the FX/AM bucket. The only place you can't be a member of with an AM bucket is FISD. (not sure about MEPD) But, you're here, not at either of those places. Sometimes the bigger bucket looks ok on bigger troopers with bigger noggins. If you're tall and skinny it will give you a bobble head look though. You wouldn't be able to go for specialist here with that bucket but if it's all your budget can afford then you can still be a basic member. Link to comment
RaiderNick[TX]
The full vs lite kit is about $120 difference I believe. He can get a more accurate ata/cap-w helmet for about the same price. So his budget should have nothing to do with which helmet he is able to get. I don't think we should be encouraging people to get a less accurate bucket. Link to comment
uncharted
Many thanks... I think I will go with AM lite (armor only) + ATA helmet Link to comment
Darth Agnon[501st]
Not encouraging, but not discouraging either. Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
We encourage people to get what is approvable and works best for them. AM is both approvable and does work better for many troopers, especially with larger heads. I have 3 different style buckets at home and my buddy with a larger head could only fit in my FX. One of the biggest issues with AM is its size, but that all depends on the troopers proportions. On many troopers it looks perfectly fine. Link to comment
