Wildcatnate
Alright guys, I finally collected the funds to get a kit so I have ordered it and am waiting for it to ship. Can't wait to start trooping! Link to comment
toddo[TX]
Now you're talking! Which kit did you order? Link to comment
Wildcatnate
I ordered the ATA kit. I figured it was the best for what I needed. Link to comment
Griffin-X[501st]
Awesome update! You are off to a great start! Link to comment
toddo[TX]
ATA's a great kit. Keep us posted with photos as your progress continues. We love pictures Link to comment
Wildcatnate
It will be my pleasure! I had the opportunity to meet with my local garrison at a hockey game. I cant wait. Link to comment
Wildcatnate
I was wondering if there was anything in particular to be aware of with this particular kit in terms of preparation: i.e. certain quips that come with this kit. Link to comment
toddo[TX]
ATA is a nice kit to piece together. There is nothing special about ATA that requires extra work or preparation vs any other kit actually. Just keep reading build threads and start assembling your tools: E6000, X-acto blades, clamps, metal rulers, needle-nose pliers, snaps, elastic, etc. Link to comment
Wildcatnate
Great. And what blaster kit do you recommend? I feel like I will be able to get that before my armor ships. Link to comment
toddo[TX]
That's wide open. You can modify a Hasbro with a DoopyDoo kit or even build one from pvc pipe. Darth Vorhees sells those from time to time. I have a number of E-11 blasters, but my favorite is the ones Lewis aka Slavefive offers. They are pretty accurate hyperfirm replicas. You can drop them and they practically bounce. Excellent for trooping. You can reach him at slavefive@cox.net Link to comment
Wildcatnate
I will get in touch with him. Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
For blaster, it depends what you want to spend. Hyperfirms are awesome and allow you to pass it to a kid without worrying about the drop. Buying the Hasbro toy and the doopy-doos kit is pretty cost effective. That is what I have. Link to comment
Wildcatnate
About how much do the hyperfirm's cost? Just a range will be ok. I think I still have around 150 to work with. Edited January 16, 2015 by Wildcatnate Link to comment
Wildcatnate
I also want to go ahead and build this to specialist specifications since it seems easier to do it from the get-go. What would I need to take into consideration to make that happen? Link to comment
toddo[TX]
Lewis sells his B-grade E11s for $150. I have a couple of those, and I can tell what is B about them. Link to comment
toddo[TX]
As for building to Specialist, I think that's a splendid idea. Here are the requirements: http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/2814-specialist-requirements-shadow-stormtrooper/ Check out others' Specialist applications as well to get a good idea of what we look for.
