Amplexor[501st]
Hi, it's TX-8505 from Norway. I didn't plan on making a topic on the progress for this build, but I have some questions, so I might as well make one and use it to get answers. I bought this red ATA kit many months ago, and have finally time to start putting it together. Finished hand painting details on the helmet last weekend, and started trimming the armor parts now. And I know you guys like pictures, so here is one of the helmet. It's not pink, it's just a bit bright lighting on my desk. 2 Link to comment
Amplexor[501st]
My first question is; If we use the Gentle giant figure as reference, why don't we use a ROTJ E -11 blaster, like the figure has? The crl state that we must use an ANH spec E -11.. Link to comment
toddo[TX]
Nice work on the helmet, especially the hand-painting! That makes my my painting look dreadful. As for your question, I can't speak for your GML, but after receiving Legion approval, I wouldn't hold-up Specialist over the blaster, especially since the GG statue features ROTJ. Maybe this is something we should investigate for the CRL once elections are over. In any case, welcome. It's always nice to see another one of those beautiful ATA magmas. Link to comment
Amplexor[501st]
Thanks! It's not my first helmet build, so I'm starting to get a hang of it. It's no problem for me, I have both anh and rotj blasters. But it would feel a bit more right to use the rotj. In the Lumiya comic it looks more like they are using SE-14R, so maybe we should use that one Link to comment
DeathMOS30[501st]
awesome more magamas Think the gentle giant is a also a resource for magma builds. I think that would be something to look at regarding the CRL and what not. Thanks for the tip. Link to comment
Fivezero[TX]
Nice helmet, magmas are very pretty! Link to comment
Amplexor[501st]
Sonnenschein is by the way having a run on RED rubber MAGMA hand guards. Color matched to ATA ( I sent her some scraps of plastic) so if you want to upgrade your hard plastic plates, go to her facebook page "Screen accurate ANH stormtrooper handguards" and order a set Link to comment
toddo[TX]
Karin's handguards are amazing. If I had a magma, I'd be all over this. Link to comment
Amplexor[501st]
I know that we're not that many Magmas yet, but I'd like us to be as identical as possible. So on the options, what have you other troopers chosen? Plastic or canvas belt? Red or black drop boxes? Do you use anh or esb type of holster? Do you use rubber or fabric gloves? Do you have Black, Smoke or dark green lenses in the helmet? I was planing to use: Plastic belt, Red boxes, esb holster, rubber gloves, green lenses. Link to comment
toddo[TX]
If you plan on going for Specialist, and your helmet detailing is a strong step in the right direction, go with a canvas belt. Link to comment

My belt is canvas, red drop boxes, chem rubber gloves, black lenses i think they look black..., holster i think its a regular esb didnt know there were two different types.. cool Link to comment
Amplexor[501st]
Yeah, I just ordered a canvas belt, so going that way as well. About the anh/esb holster, it's the tabs holding it I was thinking of. Two short tabs riveted on the backside for anh, and two longer black loops around the belt for esb. Link to comment
DeathMOS30[501st]
Yeah mine is definitely the loops for sure I actually haven't permanently attached it to my belt i have yet to commit on that one lol. I hope we get to see more pics Link to comment
ThomasDurbin[TX]
You can see my "old school" Red armor in the CRL. I have a set of the new ATA red armor I'm just starting to work on. I hope to have the second helmet done so it can be on display at CVII while I wear my old red armor. I'm anxious to see it next to someone wearing a set of the new armor and how they look in photos. For my new set of red armor, I haven't decided about the holster, but I want a canvas belt, will leave boxes red, will probably use fabric gloves since I already have a couple of pairs with other armor (TX and TK), and will use the lens material included with the helmet. Amplexor[501st]
I'm finally back on track with this, after almost a year of downtime. Finished all the major parts, and have startet strapping now. I do have some small details to do, like the buttons and rivets. There is 3 gray bottons, (top and bottom on left, top one on right) rest is black? Do you use glossy or flat paint for the buttons? Link to comment
neoakaj[TX]
I will be using glossy on the buttons and painted areas on the helmet. But with matte black tube strips. 1 Link to comment
Amplexor[501st]
What have you guys done with the inner drop boxes? I did not get any with my kit. Link to comment

Amplexor[501st]
I ended up with making myself some drop boxes. Too bad we're not allowed to use flat covers, that would be SO much easier. Link to comment
toddo[TX]
It's always a proud moment when you resort to crafting pieces yourself. Way to go. Link to comment
Amplexor[501st]
Yeah, took me about an hour. Startet with a piece of flat abs leftover from cover strip making. Draw on the size I wanted to make it, and used a sealing iron to heat up and bend in the corners. Turned out pretty good. Link to comment
toddo[TX]
I've done something similar before, but yours look much nicer. Link to comment
Amplexor[501st]
I am basically done now, and did my first test fit with all the parts. It felt good, no problems dressing myself and walking around. I'm going to fix one or two small things before I take the approval pictures. 3 Link to comment
