Riding Patch?

Recommended Posts

So I'm looking all over the place and I've finally found the templates for the riding patch for the undersuit. Now I have a new issue.

With all of the screen caps and build photos here and on the BSN but haven't found any photos of the seating of the riding patch and mud flap.

I'm not talking about crotch shots, (yes...I know how funny it sounds to ask this.) I'm having a bear of a time trying to see exactly how these are supposed to look on a completed uniform that has already been 501st approved. I think I've got the mud flap placement down but there are differing opinions on the placement and appearance of the riding patch on the undersuit and I'm striving for authenticity.

I'm already inquiring after a seamstress to sew these for me as it is beyond the realm of experience for my local seamstress. Seems suede is a tricky material to work on and if you have to rip stitch and re sew, your previous stitching would be very visible. I had to weigh conveinence against an individual who has already done this before and knows all of the tricks to make it come out right. I have no problem paying someone to sew it for me, if I can find the right individual.

I laughed as I was trying to find a way to phrase this post as it seemed so funny to ask other Scouts for photos of their inner thighs. I know we're all adults (mostly...) but the topic hasn't been quite broached in this manner. Most photos are of a poorer quality and let's face it, photographing black suede on black poly-cotton trousers can be a bit tricky.

Thoughts? (Aside from the dirty kind.)

i am not sure of the question but hope it helps

This is a great shot of what it's supposed to look like. Only difference is that the straps are on the outside of the leg.

I actually used a medium-heavy weight faux suede. It was actually from a black faux suede placemat, ha! As for the mudflap, the general rule is that you stick it on at about waist height and it extends to the bottom of your butt and about as wide as your waist. More or less.

This is true. Mine is approved without either patch. I do intened however to install the patches as we have the speacilist program in the build and I also happen to be looking at going lancer with a Biker Scout uniform.

Yeah, I wouldn't go crazy with adding riding patches and mudflaps for the "Specialist" program until we actually sit down a put together the specialist program. The references are different sources and sometimes movie accurate stuff doesn't mix with comic and figure sources. I'm thinking we'll try to kick it out in January when the holidays are over.

I can tell you guys that we have done half the scouts in legion for this mod. My girlfriend is a seamstress and uses real leather suede for both parts. The leg straps along with the inside leg suede helps keep you from getting that God awful looking balloon look in your legs. I just looked at me shadow scout figures and there is lines there for the inside suede and the straps if you wanna base it off that?

If anyone needs this mod done please feel free to contact Ladyghost over on the Legion boards or on her Facebook page here - http://www.facebook.com/denise.cowles

She might be joining the ranks here soon not sure yet.
