Imperial Army Officer CRL (Archived)

DO NOT USE THIS AS YOUR GUIDE TO BUILD THIS COSTUME - A NEW UPDATED CRL HAS BEEN POSTED

Required Costume Components

The following costume components are present and appear as described below.

 

Hat, Olive

For 501st approval:

  • Fabric is a medium weight suiting material of olive green.
     
  • Base of the hat is conical, with a crown about 4" (101.6 mm) tall.
     
  • Front and rear “flaps†overlap on the sides and are about 4" (101.6 mm) high.
     
  • Front bill extends 3" down, decorated with (5) (6) or (7) concentric stitches.
     
  • Imperial Code Disk positioned in the center of the front vertical “flap.â€

For level two certification (if applicable):

  • Code Disk has a notch detail on the outermost disk.

Green Imperial Flight Suit

For 501st approval:

  • One piece olive green coverall / jumpsuit / flight suit with a front invisible zipper and mandarin collar.
  • Each shoulder has a patch as noted below.
  • 2 large chest pockets and 2 large front pockets below the belt without any zipper.
  • There are no leg pockets below the knees.
  • Vietnam era USMC Mechanic Utility Coveralls are most accurate.

For level 2 certification (if applicable)

  • Mandarin collar is closed by a chevron shaped strap across the neck.
  • A single snap is present near the chevron point. Snap does not need to be functional.

Imperial Army Patch

For 501st approval:

  • A shield shaped patch.
     
  • The patch has an Imperial cog symbol approximately 2.75 to 3 inches in diameter.
     
  • The background of the patch has a more narrow shield shaped design on top of a box colored a darker shade of green.

Imperial Rank Bar

  • Rank consists of colored plastic tiles mounted on a metallic finish square
     
  • Rank bar corners are hard angle or slightly rounded.
     
  • Two acceptable ranks are Lieutenant (2 red tiles on top of 2 blue tiles) and Captain (3 red tiles on top of 3 blue tiles).

 

Gloves

For 501st approval:

  • Black or olive green gloves made of leather / Kevlar or similar material.

For level 2 certification (if applicable)

  • No buckles, straps, etc.
     
  • May have three stitched lines on the back of the hand.

 

Web Harness

For 501st approval:

  • Olive green colored, double strap “H†harness which travels from the lower back, and up over the shoulders.
     
  • The harness system attaches to the belt.
     
  • Harness is made of 2 inch olive green nylon webbing.

For level 2 certification (if applicable)

  • One MA78 OC pouch or similar is attached to the right harness strap.
     
  • One comm link with holster is attached to the left harness strap.

 

Belt

For 501st approval:

  • Belt is a nylon military style quick release web belt.
     
  • Belt is olive green in color.
     
  • Belt is grommeted with eyelets along its length.

 

Belt Pouches

For 501st approval:

  • Belt pouches are olive green in color and should be made of nylon or similar material.
     
  • MA47 double handcuff MOLLE PALS belt pouches should be on either side of the belt buckle where the harness meets the belt.
     
  • A tactical triple AK magazine PALS belt pouch should be on the rear of the belt where the left harness strap meets the belt.
     
  • Any additional OD green MOLLE style pouches are encouraged to fill out the belt, but are not required.

For level two certification (if applicable):

  • Belt is completely filled in with pouches.

 

Boots

For 501st approval:

  • Calf high black leather or leather like material.
     
  • “Jackboot†style
     
  • Free of laces, decorative stitching, buckles on the instep or any other embellishments.
     
  • Boots may have a single adjustment strap at the top outside of the boot, with the buckle no wider than 1".
    • This need not be functional.

    [*]Hobnails may be present on the front of the jackboots.

     

    [*]Zippers on the inside of the boot are acceptable, so long as they are concealed.

    • If the zipper is not covered by vinyl/ leather, it is painted black.

For level two certification (if applicable):

  • Boots are made of leather.

 

For level three certification (if applicable):

  • Original German jack boots (or “Knobelbechersâ€) or an authentic replication thereof.
     
  • Boots have the top adjustment strap.

 

Optional Accessories

Items below are optional costume accessories. These items are not required for approval, but if present appear as described below.

 

Electrobinoculars

For 501st approval:

  • Scratch built or high end prop replica.

SE-14 Blaster Pistol

 

For 501st approval:

  • Scratch built or high end prop replica.

DH-17 Blaster Pistol

 

For 501st approval:

  • Scratch built or high end prop replica.

Holster

For 501st approval:

  • Made of black leather or leather-like material.

For level two certification (if applicable):

  • Holster is worn on the right or left and affixed via two loops over the belt.
  • Holster straps are completely black.

PLEASE NOTE:

As written at the top of the first post, this topic is from January 2018 and is OUT OF DATE. 

To answer the question regarding the suit, no,  it is completely different.   The Army does not share components with the Navy other than the hat and in some cases boots.  

Here is the Imperial Army Purchase list
