Looking good and looking forward to the strapping.  I always like to see the setups people do there.

Thanks David. Yeah I've just started gluing parts since I've been busy with a commission build. Bucket is almost done just need to do the lenses and fans. I'm thinking of doing nylon webbing for my strapping.

Rocking and rolling!

I did see your Facebook post about weathering. I didn't see that one in the CRL, so wanted to pass along just in case.

Yeah I'll double check it but I'm pretty sure that is what is stated for the weathering.

So I just realized I need to repaint my ab buttons. I just noticed that I've inverted the colors.

There shouldnt be any mention of weathering in the current CRL nor the update proposal (which prob wont go live till after Dec)

Yeah after reviewing I realized there wasn't. Now I'm confused as to where I saw that.

Not sure.  I checked Specialist text (which is being moved into the CRl w update) and dont see it there.  Text calls for a consistent gloss red.  Thats about it.

Magmas (misnamed?) are essentially Royal Stormtroopers.  Id imagine they would be pristine like their Royal Guard cousins.

Question...are you going for base approval or Specialist?  If Specialist, I recommend going by the incoming proposal.

I'm hoping for specialist approval. But not sure I'll be able to get it. I'm building for it though.

So glossy and shiny it will be. Especially if the renaming goes through with the pending poll, sadly I may not be able to vote on it. That is depending on where it gets posted.

Oh man, I hope this kit gets renamed. Crimson Stormtrooper or Royal Stormtrooper sounds so much cooler and we know it's not really a "Magma Trooper" since Battlefront came out.

Yeah I'm all for the name change to the Royal Stormtrooper.

So went and upgraded the paint and went with a black frown. Talk about menace, this should be the standard.spcMiNS.jpgz4Gdxq5.jpgHetyRZr.jpg

I also got the ab buttons squared way

The black frown looks good!

Yeah I like it much, much better with the black.

The black frown just brings out the menace factor.

Were you able to find black tube stripe decals?  I'm sure you could contact Trooperbay and ask them to do them in black.

When I've ordered shadow scout decals, he normally prints them in matte...but has done them up in gloss for me when I've requested it.

Rat I went back to the original (red) magma trooper CRL and it says red duck cloth. I have to imaging you are goign to need to dye or paint it, but check the other WIPs here to see what they did.

Per the original CRL you can use red canvas.  Canvas and duck cloth are SIMILAR but not quite the same. That may be a GML call.

Belt

  • Belt face is made of plastic (ammo belt). It is comprised of 6 rectangular boxes, with three square buttons, one centered in the middle and one on each end.
  • Belt proper may be made from glossy red ABS or a similar shiny material and must be 3 to 3.5" wide. Red canvas or similar heavy material may also be used.
  • The drop boxes dangle from the sides of the plastic belt face via black straps and are aligned under the plastic tabs of the ammo belt. They may be red or black in color.

Thanks David. I'll have to ask my GML see what he says. I may end up having to order one, but I like the idea of making my own.
