Jinata Security/J-Sec

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

I've been thinking of doing a J-Sec costume for a while and think i finally have enough material to put together a CRL. I was told this may be a good detachment to check interest on. Here is a short background from Wookieepedia, and all the images, including the final cut artwork, that i could find. Mostly its an amalgam of redish-brown stormtrooper armor with a blue tie jumpsuit. It shows several configurations of armor. Thank you all in advance for the help! And if anyone can help me with uploading the photos so you can click on them id appreciate it lol.

Jinata Security, also known as J-Sec, was a law enforcement agency based on the planet Vardos during the reign of the Galactic Empire. Several Jinata Security officers were present alongside the Aqualish Gleb when Iden Versio returned to her homeworld after being court-martialed for sedition. By 34 ABY, Protectorate Gleb ruled Vardos with the support of Jinata Security and the First Order. Jinata Security also supported Project Resurrection, a First Order initiative to create new stormtroopers using conscripted children. After Gleb was killed for her failures and Vardos was locked down by the First Order, J-Sec rebelled against their former allies.

I did a little digging on this and pretty neat! I didn't realize there were so many different images on the internet for the J-Sec. @Raider can chime in on this as DL, but I believe it may end up over at the Underworld detachment since they have the Canto Bight Police Officer, and J-Sec doesn't appear to be a division of the Galactic Empire. We can definitely hit up the LMO's and see where it may be placed before checking over there.

Standby! :D

I had made a post about it on Underworld with the same logic and I was told they didn't think it'd be a fit. Some friends told me Spec Ops may take it. I'm just excited to get it going :). I know during the Empire they were used as a proxy force, since Gleb held rank in the Empire.

Very cool.  Sidenote...Connecticut...was born there.  Still visit in-laws there like once a year.  What part are you from?

As far as J-Sec...I'm reading the wiki as well and I'm trying to determine if they are actually Imperial or not.  We take Imperial/FO costumes here.  We recently turned away Fenn Rau and his Protectors as an example of a Empire-affiliated but not actually Imperial group.  So is J-Sec like a contracted mercenary group?  That's my feeling, but the character Gleb's straddling of the fence is what is confusing me.  I see where Underworld would hesitate as this is a "law enforcement" group with Imperial/FO ties, not a criminal organization (depending on your point of view lol)...but they took Canto Bight Officers which would seem similar.  Hmmm.  I can speak to Deborah and gather her thoughts.

Before I do...you fully intend on building this to completion?

That said...there is a little-known category of "No Detachment Affiliation" to which a costume can belong.  We have alot of projects going on here at the moment with CRLs that are high priority right now...alot get sent our way...but if you just need some help and direction in getting one done, I'm sure our people wouldn't mind helping even if the costume ends up in the "NDA" category.  Have you started a text draft?

Hello @Raider thank you for the reply. I’m from Old Saybrook originally now in Madison.

I do fully intend on completing the costume. Besides the neck piece, almost everything is TK or TS parts, so easy enough to source, and I’m working on getting a flightsuit in that color.

As for the crl, I have some preliminary language, but wanted some advice on how I should word it since there are 4 variants that appear in game, 5 if you count the Rodian in the poster.

J-Sec seems like a sector security force, but not imperial military. Gleb probably holds rank so she can give orders to Imperial troops in her jurisdiction and in joint operations.

Ah wonderful memories in Old Saybrook.  My grandparents used to rent a beach house there in summers.  My in-laws currently live in Clinton though they are moving down here soon.

Anyways...

As far as detachment placement (which is ultimately up to LMOs but they do largely take detachment feedback as opposed to forcing detachment placement these days), based on what I see right now, I don't think Spec Ops is the spot...and if Underworld won't accept it this may be an NDA costume.  That said...I'm open to helping you out just know that it would be a lower priority then our primary projects right now.  A good starting point would probably be to sort out the variant reference pics and have sufficient reference photos (front, backs, sides, closeups if you can) of each.  In reality, you would probably want to create the CRL to whichever variant you personally would choose...and then if others wanted to build the other variants, they could be added to the CRL as tabbed "versions" (see our Mudtrooper CRL as an example of that).

Once you sort your reference pics, you would then start building your text (focus on the variant you would be building)...as you get a solid draft built, that's when I would suggest diving into the actual build itself...know what details are i the costume for sure before building and potentially having to undo or redo what you built.

@RaiderOh nice! Where in CT did you live?

So I finished a preliminary draft of the CRLs. Since they all are the same with a few more bits added or removed, and I was in the zone doing it, I wrote all 4. Most of it is copy and paste from other crls. The neck piece/translator is the main difficult part, and I think until I get it 3D modeled it wont be up to snuff as written. I'll post it here for now if that is okay for people to comment/praise/scold/face palm. If its not alright please tell me and delete it.

I was born in Hartford but lived in Enfield till I was 5...so not long before moving to Florida where I was raised.  I attribute my time in Enfield to my love for LEGO lol.

If you'd like, you can email me all of the reference pics you can to iamdarthraider@gmail.com and I can download and upload them all direct to the servers for you in your original post.
