Awesome.  We can be build buddies. LOL.  Looking forward to this build. I intend to keep a detailed log for this build. Just set up my 3D printer today after moving, so hopefully will start printing parts soon.

Yes! This is my second dt kit, but I’ve never worked with fibreglass before so it’s going to be an adventure!

Did you manage to hunt down some good files for the blaster STL’s?

I’ve been looking around for a while, but I don’t trust Etsy at all haha.

Same here  I have done an ABS TK kit but never fibreglass.

I have the files for all 3 blasters. If you follow the link up above to Martin Martinez’s cult page, he doesn’t have them listed, but you can email him at mmart360@gmail.com and he will send them to you directly.  These are the great files and he was very quick to reply to me.

I heard from Jim yesterday. My armour is ready to ship. BBB is coming soon.  Very excited.

I have been looking for pets for the costume and was wondering if this material would be good for the belt?  Do the ribs need to be triangle shaped?

Ordered the arm impellers and belt buckle from Phoenix props today.

I'm not sure what buckles Jim will supply us with (mine comes on Friday fyi), but Plastic Arms Dealer have a couple of good ones:

Shoulder Straps:

Side Buckles:

And also some great rubber webbing for the thigh pieces:

I received the first of my 2 boxes today. The second hopefully will be here tomorrow. The one today had parts for my first order TK, so no death trooper BBB pics to share.

Received the second of the Big Brown Boxes and now have the deathtrooper armour and undersuit.  Very happy with the quality of the pieces but I may need to enlarge the arm and leg pieces as they seem to be a bit tight.

I just want to thank Jim Tripon @jimmiroquai who went above and beyond with his customer service.  When I went through my armour last week, I noticed that the neuro sav was missing.  I messaged him on Saturday and by Thursday, I received it by fed ex from the Philippines to Canada.  That is 5 days to ship something half way around the world.
Thanks Jim.

I officially started my death trooper today.

So, when you order a fibreglass armour kit and BBB day arrives…. Even though it is almost irresistible to put the pieces on, it’s not a great idea as it is similar to rolling in fibreglass.  I was itchy for days.

I decided to coat the inside of the armour with plastidip to seal in the fibres.  The issue is that it is winter here and I can not spray outside.  The solution.  Build a spray tent in the basement.

I made a square frame with 3/4” PVC pipe and attached it to the metal support beams with rare earth magnets.  Then draped plastic sheeting over the frame and closed the seams with tape.  Since there is no ventilation, you need to wear a respirator mask  in there but it seems to be working well so far.

Question about working with fibre glass kits:

for the forearms, they don’t make an even circle when the 2 halves are put together, more of a peanut shape, so the halves need to be opened up a bit before attaching them.  Is this best achieved by heating the pieces?  If so, is a hot water bath sufficient, or do I need to use a heat gun carefully?  Also, what is the best way to attach them together?

How you attach the forearms together is really dependent upon how big your forearms are. Personally, I used the clamshell technique when I assembled my forearms. I kept the circumference smaller so the inward force helps hold them in place. I am traveling today but will post up a photo of how my are constructed. The pieces of Jim's kit can be hot water bathed to shape. Don't use a heat gun or anything hotter than a hair dryer as it will scorch the smooth surface of his casts.
