Clinton
I have been trying to do my research on printing a Imperial Death Trooper Helmet. I have a Bambu P1S and am planning on using PETG HF for the filament. I have obtained the following files: MCM Design: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/death-trooper-helmet-star-wars-rogue-one Galactic Armory: https://galacticarmory.net/products/death-trooper-helmet-3d-print-files I want to use the MCM Design files because from my research they are used most by the community. However, I am unable to fit the Main Dome on my machine. I have split it in software but have concerns about "reattaching" it together after printing. My concern is making sure the two parts are properly aligned. This is why the Galactic Armory Files are interesting because they are already split for smaller printers. They include features for aligning the parts during the assembly process. Has anyone used the Galactic Armory Files and got 501st Approved with them? I found this YouTube Video where they used the MCM Files to produce their helmet and it looks great: Also, was going to follow this tutorial for preparing the parts for paint: Any guidance or recommendations would be appreciated. Mal86
I didn't 3D Print my kit, but I know bambu slicer (or Orca slicer - I can't remember which I did this on) has the ability to add pegs to reconnect items when you split them. I will tell you that you may want to test the tolerance. I printed a whole item in 4 parts and the pegs didn't fit together. I'd probably make a cube, cut it up with the pegs, and test the tolerance that way. That should assist with your alignment issues. Link to comment
