Scar Squadron (Sgt.Kreel) JetPack

Threeve

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I designed and printed a Jet Pack for my Sgt. Kreel and was wondering how I could go about having it approved to wear out on troops.

I based it from the comicbook stories and sized it appropriately to be functional and fit onto a regular back plate.  It uses Magnets and has a safety strap fitted just in case. I also added lights to give the Blue glow and have a aurebesh S.C.A.R. recessed at the top.

I know it's not on the CRL currently but wondering what the thoughts are on adding the Jetpack for these characters as an optional extra?

Thanks for your consideration.

Steve.

Got it! We used 59/60 for the version we did, however, we may be able to include this one on the simplicity and the fact that art wise it looks pretty consistent with those other issues. I'm at a work conference now, but should be back home tomorrow to see about a CRL item discussion.

The pack is an awesome addition.  Issue #61 should be a good reference since they are still stranded on the same planet that they were on in 59/60…but either way I think it could be added using the earlier arc references as an optional piece of gear.

For the purpose of a CRL and reference images we would need, just a few things I’d point out:

-There is no evidence of aurebesh etching that I can see in any panels.

-I dont see any blue-lit sections on the main pack body.

-The thrusters dont appear curved in the panels. This one might be a lil nitpicky but figured Id mention it…they all seem to have a straight “tube” shape

I'm in agreement with what @RAIDER said, especially for the first two bullets.

On the thrusters, I can see how the curved was derived, based on some of the panels where there is movement. Much of the other panels have them appearing like a track light shape, rather than curved. However, based on the pack I'd be okay with a slight curve on the thrusters for L1 and save the straight ones for L2 (Specialist) details.

The only other thing that I see is that there appears to be a raised seam that goes down the middle bottom of jump pack. Is that where the two sides were put together?

Hi guys, sorry for the late reply, I’m currently traveling out of town for work.

yeah this pack was a mix of what I saw in the comics and what I thought for functionally with the thrusters (it looked weird pointing straight out) but they do swivel and can be interchanged. I do like the functionality of them being directional to be honest but happy to change if needed.

The lighting can be easily altered to just be the thrusters for sure. That way the vents would just be holes.

I added the Aurebesh S.C.A.R. more for a bit of fun and printed with glow in the dark filament so it glows when you come in from the light.  That is a separate component so can be printed without

Yes the strip on the bottom was to cover a seam that cracked open after a miss-handle. (Oops)  a quick fix for something that shouldn’t be there.

I won’t be able to re-model and print a new one for a week or so but if these are the go to specs I’ll get to work on doing another one for sure.

Thanks again for your input and time.

Hi Guys,

Got some time to fire up the printer last week so here are some fresh prints (not sanded or painted) with no text on the upper panel, no Seam showing and the thrusters pointing straight out.  I still like the functional look of the curve to the thrusters but let me know what you guys think of this version ?

Thanks,

Steve

Yea this looks good.  I would say the curve here of the thrusters is much less.  Id add that I think if you didnt want them to face straight out you could angle them down a tad so long as no more curve is added to the pipe itself if that makes sense

Initial text draft:

Jump Pack

  • Solid black in color and styled after the comic reference.
    • A loose interpretation is allowed, but reference accuracy is encouraged.
  • There are four levels/sections to the backpack described below:
    • Top level:
      • A four-sided rectangular detail in the upper one-third of the second level near the wearer's helmet. The sides of the rectangle are longer on the outer edges.
    • Second level:
      • A six-sided coffin shaped detail in the upper two-thirds of the third level. The sides of this shape are longer on the outer edges.
    • Third level:
      • A ten-sided uniquely shaped detail, with two sides that that jut out just above the thruster sections.
      • On each of those two sides there are two rectangular cut-outs that match the reference photos. These cut-outs must be backed with material that is either painted or utilizing LEDs to give a bluish soft glow.
    • Fourth level:
      • There are two obtuse triangular-shaped sections on each side of the jump pack. From these triangular shapes there are two slanted sections where the thrusters are mounted.
      • There are two circular thrusters mounted on each of the slanted sections on each side. The circular thrusters have straight or slightly curved pipes with a ringed section, approximately 1/4 inch (6.35mm), near the top. The inner section of the thrusters must be backed with material that is either painted or utilizes LEDs to give a bluish soft glow.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):

  • Third Level:
    • On each of those two sides there are two rectangular cut-outs that match the reference photos. These cut-outs must be backed with material and utilizes LEDs to give a bluish soft glow.
  • Fourth Level:
    • The inner section of the thrusters must be backed with material and utilizes LEDs to give a bluish soft glow.
