Foxhole21
Hello Spec Ops Detachment, TK-20141 of the Imperial Sands Garrison. Got a TK under my belt and I love it to death, but I always knew I wanted to make a Death Trooper eventually. Did months of research on this forum and today I took the leap. Armor - Finished build from jintaprops. Helmet - jintaprops Undersuit - jintaprops Gloves - jintaprops Boots - Was looking at Keep Troopings Killers, but today I went to order them, seems they're out of stock. Anyone have experience with crowprops's Death Trooper boots? E-11D - Imperial Arms. Premium model with steel rod. Going for basic approval. Not going for the specialist build yet, I was waiting for Jinta to have those pieces in hand but seems he's out of stock. Will probably go with Jim Tripon's stuff for it though and will update with whatever I buy. I was eyeing Jintaprops for a while, was hoping someone would have his kit in hand before I bought it myself, but I ordered almost everything important from him so i'm willing to serve as a guinea pig. I was following his vacuum upgrade thread here and I really like the look of his kit and it should fit me pretty well. I've heard great things about his other stuff, particularly from the lovely boys and girls in the Jolly Roger Detachment so i'm not too worried. For some other things, I ordered a sound glove from Hyperspace Props. As I am a mere 6'0 i'm looking into in-shoe lifts to give myself that extra oomph in costume. Looking forward to having this complete. BBB can hardly come fast enough. Link to comment
Chaos[CMD-DCA]
Jack, Welcome to the Darker side of the Darkside! Excellent choice in choosing a Death Trooper. We have someone who ordered a finished Jinta kit, he would be ideal to connect with for information and tips about the kit. His forum name is @AChanster Best of luck on your kit. Any questions you can think of have probably been asked and answered in the DT forums. Use the search feature, but if you can't find the answer, there are a lot of Troopers who can assist. 1 Link to comment

Foxhole21
Some minor updates. Saw Keeptrooping's killers were back in stock, and lucky me on a slight discount. Went ahead and ordered them, so that's boots dealt with. Got my sound glove from Hyperspace Props. Was a little naive to think the pretty bulky electronics could fit in my vambrace, as I tried it in my TK and it didn't fit. Will be sending it back and going with their customizable option to keep the electronics in the chestplate. Does anyone know what sort of space i'm looking at in the chest plate itself for speakers and batteries and such? 1 Link to comment
sakurawars88
Hey welcome! I've been waiting for Jinta and Imperial arms for a while now. They are taking their time to make the items since April... I did receive Jim's under suit and will try it on to get the size fixed if wrong. Link to comment
Chaos[CMD-DCA]
I've seen DTs with an Aker speaker in their chest armor, it did have to be positioned as to not hinder the abdomen armor. Have you thought about UKSWRATH's helmet sound system? Not sure if you have considered it but here is a video a made a few years back. 1 Link to comment

I am considering this audio system but the cost is way too high to buy it in haste. Do you have the system? Is it possible to make the scramble sound when you speak or is just looping audio files better? Link to comment
Chaos[CMD-DCA] Posted yesterday at 05:55 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:55 AM I have the system, with the files I don't need to scramble my voice. I only talk normal if I need to, the rest of the time I just reply to people using the audio file. There is an app for iphones that you can adjust your voice output that sounds similar but not exact to the DT scrambled comms. Link to comment
Foxhole21
Was considering UKSWRATH's system, but the cost is a little high for me. I also like the control over the sounds that the sound glove offers, as i'm a stickler for the accuracy of their dialogue. I have a friend who is also considering a DT build and me and him previously deciphered the meaning or "intention" of some of their scrambled audio thanks to Battlefront. We would be in the same garrison and we can "communicate" with each other during a troop by assigning a meaning to each sound. Hyperspace Props reached back and we've agreed to a transfer for the forearm to a custom mount so I will be sending it back soon. Disheartened to hear that Sakura's been waiting for April for his stuff from Jinta and Imperial Arms, i'll probably be no more fortunate in that case. Link to comment

For your audio, are you looking for a pre-built solution, or are you willing to go homemade? If you're willing to go homemade, Adafruit has a sound FX board that can be pre-loaded with phrases and then triggered via 10 different pins. Each pin can support up to 10 different audio files that will play sequentially (first press first sound, second press second sound, etc.). They have a model that has a standard stereo jack output and another that has a small 2W amplifier built in. Link to comment
