  1. Hey there. First of all welcome to the Spec Ops Detachment. I'M very sorry, that I did not make contact with you in December when you asekd me to. I was very busy in December and even nao in January al ot of things are coming up. Nontheless I would like to congrat you on the great work you have done on that Kit. It really looks great and so much better than before. I'm glad it all worked aout for you n the end. To hear that RS no longer offers the shadow TK is also good news. As I personally fought against those Kits and had some extensive Discussions about that Kit. People will now see that they can bring their Kit to a mush higher Level thanks to you and I bet some members of our Garrison will be very glad for your advice. # Again: I'm sorry that I wasn't there for you. I meant no offense. Cheeers and happy trooping in 2020.
  2. Our GMOs usually don't approve RS Shadow Troopers any more. They lack the proper glossy finish. I myself would only recommend ABS with an acrylic finish as it is sold from Troopermakers like Troopermaster and RWA. RS Armors should get a makeover with a clearcoat to get a deep glossy finish.
  3. Guys that's just great. Very cool to have the 3D Drawings and I already like the way our discussion develops. I like the Idea of this trooper having a unique belt. This way it will not only be a trooper in a different color with some fancy lighting but truly a uniqe kind od costume. My suggestion would be to make the Belt with the Cuts basic level as it is truely one thing that makes the armor different from all the others. The thinner belt would be lvl two. I also would recommend to add the holes on the back of the belt to lvl two. imo that would make perfect sense. I also like the Idea of the shoulderbells being transparent. That would also be something very unique to the costume. And on the picture it sure lokks as if they are not painted with the same gray as the rest of the armor. As for the trimmed edge: This is clearly based on the RotJ armor. but I agree that on some parts they don't have the trimmed edges. We should make that also an must vor basic approval as this is unique, too. What do you think?
  4. Hey. Just came in and had a look at the topic. I agree with everybody else that we should leave the Lightsaber out for sure. Some thoughts about the armor itself: - The casket around the edges of the armor would usually lead to the assumption that we havea a ROTJ based armor here. Did you use a ROTJ style Kit or a ANS/ESB style Kit? - The Handguards are ANH style,. Thats fine. - Maybe we should make a explicit statement, that the lenses are to be dark, but not too dark to cover the blue backlight? - Also we should add that the Tube stripes are to be cut out like the teeth to make the lighting visible. - The belt should have the edges cut off like the RotJ Style Stormtrooper has. It is visible in this picture left from the saber: As it does not seems to be a 45 degree cut we should add: Corners of ammo Belt are cut a right angles. Not 45 degree as in ANH/ESB. - We should add a more detailed explanation for the black stripe of the shoulder bells. For example: The color of the shoulder bells is grey with a broad, glossy, black stripe from the upper edge to the lower edge. The black stripe covers almost the whole shoulderbell, except a small sarea on the left and the right edge. These are some thoughts I havwe a bout the CRL. I think you have done a great Job with building the armor. So I hope my suggestions are not too bold.
  5. So we agree, that the above one from RS would not be approvable whilst the Iron Motion one would be ok? I don't like either of them as I only like the deep gloss for the Shadow Trooper... but the Iron Motion one I consider at least ok.
  6. Hi everybody. Since two years now we have discussions within the our garrison when it comes to the Blackholetrooper's armor. The Discussion started when our GMOs approved two Troopers who bought there armor from RS Probs (made of ABS). Many other people (including me) where unhappy with this disesseon as we felt, that the armor is way too dull for a Blackhole Trooper according to our CRL. There was a short discussion with the GMOs and the topic was closed. I think they decided on not to approve anymore black RS armors made of ABS if they are not lacquered shiny but I'm not sure of that. Now a local Prop Maker here in Germany which is called Iron Motion, is offering a new Armor for the Blackhole Trooper. They used to make there armor out of HIPS and it had a real deep glossy effect. Now they re using ABS and again there is a discussion if it is shiny anough or it has to be revised and made glossy. With the Permission of Iron Morion I would like to present the armor to the Detachment to clearify the matter and maybe to give our GMOs an advise as how to proceed with the new Iron Motion Trooper. I also want to save people from not getting an approval... So I hope you can help me. First the Picture of a RS Trooper: You can see me on the left side standing next to the a Trooper in RS Armor: This is the new Trooper from Iron Motion: I'm eager for your Feedback. Thanks!
  7. I heard that after Rebels has ended, a new animated series is planned: The Resistance. The appearance of Phasma is already confirmed. So I have tha big hope, that maybe we will see the Cardinal in that series. Would be great.
  8. Are there any official pictures of the Cardinal, yet? I really liked the idea of this charakter and I always liked red. But I wasn't able to find any pictures...
  9. To me almost all the Troopers (especially the Range Trooper) in the Solo Movie look more like mercenaries or bountyhunters. It seems to me like people who build there armor out of imperial armor parts, not real imperial solidiers. The Trooper on the bike is different though. It seems to be some variant of a Scout. Just not with the typical "snout". Maybe we will see clearer as soon as the movie comes out. So far I hope they most of them are not real imperial soldiers. They don't really fit into my picture of the shiny empire.
  10. First of all: I'm very sorry for everybody who has worked on a Seyn costume. I can understand that you must be frustrated by the decission of the LMOs. But I still believe that it was the right thing to do. The Seyn CRL should never have been published in the first place, as it was against the regulations of the legion. It does not matter, if we have other costume which are hardly known to anybody than die hard fans. As long as they match the requirements of a legion costume its ok to have a CRL. As I pointed out earlier in this thread, there are not enough visual references of syen (right now) to make a CRL. And her armor is not even described in the book. Mybe more of her will be seen in the future.
  11. Even though I don't feel like I'm off base with my statement, I'd like to comment on that: First of all: I do very much appreciate all the hard work, that everybody within the legion does. It is not, that I criticize the work which had been done for Seyn's or any other CRL by our team in general. This being said I firmly believe, that a CRL that is based merely on written text should not be released without proper visual references to prove it. That's why I wrote my statement. Yes I do have a Blackhole Stormtrooper and I'm very proud of it. I'm also a proud member of the Spec Ops detachment and I'm happy for every new member and I have the uttermost respect for their work for their Seyn costumes. But I don't agree with the assumption that 80% of our costume including mine, would have to be dismissed if we keep to the rules of the LMO documentation. I went through our CRLs and found very much and very clear reference material for almost all of our costumes. Only the Swamp Scout and the red Magma Trooper are giving you a hard time. Guess you have to dig a little deeper for these. Of couse it is always difficult to translate a comic based costume into the real life. And maybe from time to time we have to make some assumptions for that. I agree with you, Steve, that we can't completely live by the rule “no assumption and no maybe†as inflicted by my statement. I went to far with this. However imo this does not count for Seyn. We do not have any other visual material on her but a picture from behind and only about third of the whole body. That just is not enough to make a cast-iron CRL. Sorry but this is how I see things. As I also have a function within the Command Staff of the German Garrison, I know how ungrateful all this must sound for you. I'm sorry if this is how I came across, but I had to speak my mind because as I pointed out earlier, our CRL are the rock the Legion is build upon. Therefore this issue is very important for me.
  12. I gave this very much thought, but as the first approvals of Seyn took place I've decided that I have to start a discussion in this matter. I did not want to make a fuss but I'm afraid I have to, as this CRL is not only against my personal view of the CRL Database, but also against the rules. First I like to give my personal point of view on this issue: I think our CRL should not be based on assumptions and maybes, but on proper reference material only. We should nerver assume what might be logical or what a character would probably use or wear. In the IOC we had a huge dispute about an optional costume accessory: The rain poncho from rogoue one. The poncho was seen in the movies only in black. But a green one was added as optional, also for the Line Officers. The ones responsible pointed out, that it would be only logical that the green officers would wear a green rain poncho, and I do not argue that in the Galaxy far far away they would. However we can't base a CRL on our assumptions. Otherwise we could also assume, that a grand admiral would war a white poncho with golden epaulettes and add it to the Thrawn CRL. You see where this is going. It was a very emotional discussion and some people got quite angry about the topic. At last a poll was held and the green poncho was dismissed by the members of the IOC. However the LMO has not yet followed that decision. Now what the guidelines and rules are saying about this matter: In our databanks under the LMO documentation there is a character approval statement. In this statement it says under additional notes: So to make a long story short: The CRL is simply against the rules. We should not accept a CRL which is against the rules. I don't understand why our LMO did not enforce the rules, stated in his own job description. But imho we have a huge problem here. This CRL should be removed from the CRL database immediately before more people start working on Seyn costumes. The costumes already approved maybe stay in the legion due to preservation of the status quo. Please understand that I don't want to give anybody a hard time. But for me the CRL is the very foundation the legion is build upon. And it should not be endangender by setting precedents like this. How will we proceed in this matter?
  13. I just saw tht the Seyn CRL is out now. I must admit, that I did not pay much attention on this matter in the past, as the Inferno Squad is just not my cup of tea. But I read the book and that's why I'm wondering what kind of reference material was used for the CRL. In the thread it says, that the book was used. But in the book there is no description of Seyn's Suit. So how do we know that, for example she was not wearing a TK Belt but an Officers Belt? I was under the impression that to get a costume approved it has at least have to have two references. And that a single reference in a book is not enough. I don't want to make a fuss here, please don't get me wrong. It is just, that we are facing a small discussion here in Germany. Some people are already stating, that now they can make every costume which is just mentioned in a book... Thanks.
  14. Thank you very much. This will avoid seeing matte armors in the future. Still it's true, that our GMOs should have asked the detachement when in doubt. It's not the correct coause of action just du approve something. Unfortunately not all the GMOs seem to think this way...
