She needs to give you like...a best brother on the planet award or something.
-
Hopefully Zack just pushes this through real quick. I don't see anyone on the GML committee having anything bad to say. And seriously, your front door is small bro..
-
Not sure if it's the right thing to go into prices. I don't want anyone to take anything the wrong way. Join up at BSN and PM BlueCyclone there. He can give you all the scout info you need. And what's out there usually is good for white and black.

I don't have a printer so I couldn't print out any sort of template. Was at the Makaze AP last weekend and Timmy didn't have the template either, and he said he would print one out so I can cut my tops, but at that point it was late soooooo. I think I'll just make my own template this week and cut them, and get them done at the next Squad 7 AP next weekend. This after I drive all the way to Orlando to troop with Makaze, then all the way back up to Jax for the AP.

Ditto what Ghost said for the front chest armor. One little piece, and you're good to go.

MC dues current runs of black ABS armor, and it's considered some of the most accurate scout armor out there. SC is good too. Not as accurate, but cheaper, but I think right now he's cleaning up his molds and making accuracy adjustments, so not sure if he's pulling anything at the moment. KS makes a good helmet, but he's def not pulling any scouts in black. Best bet for the bucket is MLC, but it requires painting. MC does not make a scout bucket, they use MLCs. They can paint it for you, or you can go directly through MLC. I suggest joining up at bikerscout.net too. You can get good accurate info and tips on scout armor, be it white or black.

For my reg Scout, I just used velcro. I'm assuming you're talking about the straps for the shoulder tabs? Placed the fuzzy pieces under each tab, and then used a piece of hook velcro to hold the 2 together. I've heard of people using snaps right there, and honestly it would be a good place to use them on a scout. Either way, up to you as you'll end up wrapping the joint to cover the gap anyways. As for trimming, all I can see you really needing to trim is the shoulder bells (basing this off the fact that most women who are scouts end up trimming the bells) and that's all I ever hear them they need to trim. Well, other then the end pieces of the belt. Post up some pics. Makes me want to hurry up and order my stuff to do mine.

You know though, for approval, you don't need the flap or thigh patches. You can always do that later.

Here are some pics of my suit. Sorry about how dark it is, had to use the cell phone.

Ahhh sorry, just saw this. I only used rivets on my belt, attaching the holster to the boot, and on the tank. One on the bottom of the tank, and with the SC armor, I cut out the back section and left a flap, then used a heat gun to fold the flap up, drilled a hole to match the tank topper, and used 1 rivet done from the bottom to match the one rivet on top to be screen accurate. Worked well. Attending an armor party soon, so hopefully I'll be able to finish my Shadow scout boots then. PM's Denise about a flak vest and possible bund and pouch set as well.

For MC kits, there is no price diff between white and black. MC uses MLC helmets which are fiberglass and will need to be painted. They'll paint it for you, but if you want to purchase a bucket through them, finished, you're looking at around $600. It's a great bucket, so if you have the funds, it's worth it. SC you can order armor by itself for a little under $400, but if you want the helmet too the whole thing is slightly under $700. The SC bucket will need a lot of work, as there is a seam line on the back you need to get rid of, as well as change to a more accurate snout, cut out the ears, etc. You can get a black ABS bucket from KS..not sure of the priced, but my white finished bucket was $300, and I love it. Overall, you can't go wrong with MC. SC is great, just not as accurate as MC..BUT...SC armor is good enough to get Lancer status over on BSN (if done right). Izzi has a set of SC armor, and I think Wraith does as well, so I would hit them up for some questions.

OOoo look at all the shiny black plasticky goodness. Do the Shadow Scout bucket take gray stickers? I thought everything was supposed to be black, including the pin stripping on the tank and rank stripes.
-
Oooo I'll watch this one closely as the Shadow Scout is next for me. Been having fun putting together my regular SC biker armor, so you'll have some fun with that, Wraith. The belt is ANNOYING..and maybe Crazy can attest to that...getting the straps right just...ugh. You may have a better time at it then me, as I only had myself to put it together. You'll have to bondo the seam on the SC lid and paint it though. Boots...don't be afraid of the boots. Only thing that's taking me so long is that I don't have access to a sewing machine to finish mine up. Just get you some black marine vinyl from Joannes...about 3 yards to be safe...will only run ya about $15, and get some goop. You can use E6000, which might work better since it's less...well....goopy. Good luck!!! One more thing...with the 2" and 1.5" webbing for the belt, SC gives you nylon webbing. I would order up some black cotton webbing. I did for my Scout and looks SO much better. I got a yard of the 2" and 3 yards of the 1.5 and with shipping it ran me about $14. If you want the site, let me know.

Hehe yeah Bro, just got my white SC armor, but I need to drill the holes an get some washers for the rivets. Never used rivets before, so I hope I don't mess them up. One thing for sure, putting the white armor together will def help when I go black.
-
Yeah the first one I did turned out surprisingly well. Nice and smooth, no wrinkles. What worries me now is the tube lol. That I will def do a paper cut out to figure out the correct pattern.
-
Thanks, Iz. Surprised it's turning out so well...so far. Trying to decide if I want to trust my friend to do the sewing for me since I haven't done anything with a sewing machine since...8th grade. We'll see. I'd buy one myself, but like I need it after I do these boots.
-
I figured that since I ordered my white scout boots and paid a lot, I would take a shot at making my own this time for my future Shadow Scout. Working one boot at a time... Cut the soles to make them more screen accurate as the white boots are. Once the sole is cut, I went to pinning the vinyl to the toe, then heating with a hair dryer, then stretching, then heating, then stretching, and then letting it sit for the night. Peeled the vinyl back, glued, let it set over night and trimmed around the base, then glued a 1/2 strip around the base. So far, not as hard as I thought it would be. Stay tuned..more to come.

You should go join the Florida Garrison's message board as well and post your build pics. Plenty of people there that can help you out as well. Not sure if you would fall under Squad 7 or Makaze though.
-
Congrats ELP and to Muppet too. Waiting sucks..I need my scout stuff now so I can move on to a TX.
-
I know right. I think I got that in the glove box. Just goes to show ya why the Magmas are rare.
-
35k? I dunno...that seems a little too high..damn.
-
Looks nice. Don't know why you wouldn't make it though.
-
Ugh, so want to do this kit as well. But it would be 3rd behind the Scout and Shadow Scout. Well, might be 2nd if I could get a deal on some armor...any one know of any, let me know. Until then I'll just drool or Iz's and watch with great interest on Bryan's.

I wanted to get a pic of this at CV, but it was kinda hard lol. Always too many people around when I had the chance. Next time maybe. Hope this got approved.
