Well 'm back on track to this project, got side tracked for a while building an ANH Tie Pilot but now thats all finished and approved its time to be creative again :smile:

 

I've Sewn all the robes inner and outer, Monks cloth for the outer and a material similar to osnaburg for the inner

 

Gaffi's are on order 2x rubies that I will have to mod

 

Helmets are on order from Dirty Tusken Studios

 

Waist bandoliers I will probably make myself, but criss crossed bandoliers are probably cheaper to buy when all is said and done

 

Today I made a start on weathering the inner robes, Started with my sons as it is smaller and therefore if I wreck it less material wastage but I would like an opinion on my weathering so far ........does it need more, is it ok or have I overdone it ??

 

It looks much lighter in the pics than it really is so may be hard to give an opinion, Brown Acrylic paint with black over the top fraying will be done later .....the washing machine does a wonderful job of that, then some touch up of the frayed ends.

 

I watered down the paint and used a garden weed sprayer to apply does it look too splotchy??

Whoever does the mod should put a video so we hear what itll sound like

 

I,ve got a couple on order so when i get mine i'll do the mod and post it up for you guys, A guy in my garrison uses it for his wookie and it sounds pretty damn good but he said i'll need to solder on thicker wires as they quite thin and can break easily if not held securely

Go tandy leather, line 24 snaps look at their current specials they have them in silver for nearly half price for 100snaps atm they are definately the best snaps available I think $28 for a hundred, i priced locally and they were $1 each, you wont need them for a while

Don't know what the other guys think but i reckon around 15mm, mine were 10mm and a little weak in some instances , 15mm should be a good size because when you do butt join method which is where i thought you were going ( correct me if i'm wrong ) you will want them to fit flush on the inside of the armor when glueing the inner strips and 20mm will not always fit flush , especially the front of the calfs and biceps . So i reckon 15mm or a mix of 15 and 20 mm . Also i brought 20 magnets and wished i had 40 as you could glue more parts at the same time instead of waiting for other parts to dry .

 

A tip on those magnets is also to cover them in masking tape otherwise when they snap together they will crack and or chip

Well when i was looking i emailed shoulderpauldrons and was told they weren't selling them at present .........then i emailed TKboots and he found one for me at a great price so its worth a try

for shoulder pauldron , Greg is right shoulderpauldrons.com is not selling atm but they are trying to find another manufacturer that will live up to there quality expectations so they will be back. iI got mine from TK Boots absolutely an excellent guy to deal with, He does not list them on his site but just send him an email and he may be able to help you tkboots.com . For the black boots themselves look up Amsterdam boots on Amazon some great specials there and should be just under $50 . All the rest is above in Toddo's post
