  1. Actually organising a little troop down here in OZ. You may of heard of DW2011? At the pointy end of the organising right now and worrying about pics is a little down on my list at the moment. I have taken some but I have to load then on another computer first as I just got a new computer. Hope to do it tomorrow night. Boots get coloured probably tomorrow as well. Going to spray them red. Couldn't get a dye close enough. They will lst as long as I prep them properly and I did that for my TD boots and they have lasted 3 years with minimal damage. Pics to come....geez you kids are impatient haha.
  2. Right after much spray painting and then some more the suit is completely repainted. No more burnt look...sad really. Didn't finish til late yesterday so I will take some pics of the armour tomorrow. Work today and work BBQ tonight. Got the boots to colour still but I am preparing them today at work in my breaks. In a couple of days I will do the detials on the helmet and AB buttons when the paint has fully dried and cured. Webbing is getting sewn up early this week then I just need to get a holster. All things going to plan approval pics will be in at the end of the week.
  3. All sanded. Painting tomorrow. Detailled bits when that all dries. Should be all done by the end of next week.....I hope. Yes there will be pics.
  4. Thanks Muppet. Sanding will be a blast..... Trent heads back down here on Friday so he will miss out meeting the lads up there. Well back to the grind.
  5. Alright best mate gone to TSV for a week. Time to start again. Got a third of it resanded. Should start painting again on Thursday. Now that I know the colour scheme (not burnt....sigh) I will just put it all together. Yes I will post some more WIP pics this time. Well back to the sanding. Stay tuned.
  6. Sorry team. Best mate just flew in from NZ. Gonna have to drink beers and catch up for a week. Hope to have the suit at least resanded this week. Repaint next week whilst getting the webbing done. Pauldron is getting made now. Still hope to have it approved by the end of the month.
  7. I'll definitely be repainting if needed. And by the looks of it I will be repainting....GAHHH!! The Redbacks need a 'Red' trooper and they will have one by the end of the month.
  8. Thanks izzi. I don't want to complete it only to have to repaint it. It would be a too much of a painful experience. Plus I have to get the colour right before I do the boots. Otherwise they will be too hard to match afterwards and flake like a demon. The only other pic I have seen is the comic book cover. They look 'burnt' but I guess that is not enough haha. I will try talk to Mr Mupps Tach and see what he says. I guess you only learn by asking the question.
  9. Haha Sithári it is a good idea but then I would not be able to troop events like DW2011 in that armour. Also I am on the Redback CS and we are really encouraging all troopers to build and get armour that is not really out there approved. Just look at Tachyon building from scratch his Seatrooper. Amazing stuff. If I need to repaint then I will repaint. Unless the LMO thinks that there can be a weathered version of the Magma. How would I get the pics to the LMO? Do I get Muppet (Redback GML) to send them or can you do it izzi?
  10. But it looks so cool burnt...Gahhhh. Looks like I better start sanding all the armour again and get ready to start painting again.....Sigh!!! More pics to come.
  11. I thought that you needed to have a 'burnt' look to the armour with black bits showing? I can add more red if needed. Yeah I still have to do the 'insides' of the armour. I had tape on some wire holding it to a hook. Was going to polish it all up after the paint had been given the thumbs up. Nothing harder than trying to sand back polished plastic haha. So is the consensus that I need more red layers?
  12. OK here are some pics. Those of you in the Redbacks know how computer inept I am at using a computer. Thus this is why my WIP pictures are non-existent on the forums and then all of a sudden low and behold I have a new suit of armour. I am trying to remedy this by doing what all men fear to do.....ask for help. Lucky my girlfriend, who is a photographer, helped me figure out how to reduce the pics to a usable size....yes I hear you all laughing now. Needless to say I know a lot more now and will be using this new fangled modern technamalogical stuff to keep you updated. For the colour the base armour was white. Most of the bits are HIPS, some bits are ABS. The formulae used was: Sand all armour Plastic Primer 2 coats of Satin Black 3 - 4 coats of Cherry Red 2 coats of Clear Gloss White Knight Spray Cans were used. I hope that the colour turned out right. I like it. It looks like a burnt red. All comments are welcome. I won't do the final touches until the colour has been given the big thumbs up. Cheers Apok
  13. Well I have been painting for the past week and a bit and will be finished this bad boy this arvo (OZ time). Before I add the detail bits and web it I want to make sure that the colour is right. I will be putting up some pics and hopefully all the work I have done is correct. With a couple of coats of black, a few coats of red, plastic primer and a couple of coats of clear it has been a mission. Hampered by the weather we have had here in QLD. When I post the pics any feedback would be great. Once I know the colour is right I will finish it off with the decals and other painted details, as well as the webbing. I also don't want to do the boots until the colour has been given the thumbs up. Would of rather done this in Red ABS instead of painting a white suit, but as I deal with plastic and making my own armour I know the difficulty in getting other colours (even black is pretty much impossible here in OZ) unless you order a minimum quantity of 300kg, which is a lot of money and about 7 or 8 suits of armour. As cool as it would be to have 7 suits of black armour I can't afford that at all haha. Nor do I have the space. So feel free to le t me know if I am on the right track. I would love to have a Magma here in OZ and ready for DW2011. Please be the right colour or I am going to cry. Pics to come.
