  1. I thought I would give an update and not leave this thread hanging. I have decided to change the direction for this costume at this time. I am going to use the armor for an ICAT driver. After I finished my Tank trooper I just fell in love with the helmet design and yeah. However I will come back to this costume at some point as I have put a lot of time and money into other items for this such as the softgoods and the helmet that will not be used for the ICAT.

Good luck to those who are building this costume and for everyone working on the CRL

we dont have a place that sells MG paints anymore, they used to be sold at Michaels but they took all the stock out. Id like to order a can next weekend and see what it looks like.

For the full effect, is there anything that needs to be done to the MG Anthracite, such as a grey or black primer, to give it its full color saturation?

I’m ordering some Montana paint for my shore and I’ll get it as well to test and see if there is any other prep.

Haven't looked to deeply at the colors yet.  Is the helmet the same color as Aldhani which is almost an Anthricite dark dark grey/black, or is is flat black?

    My eyes say anthricite

edit: my wife reminded me I’m somewhat color blind haha. She’s looking and has a great eye for color, she is an artist who paints lizard puppets so she’s good with color

Starting at the top, we begin with the helmet.

Also, the color Montana Gold Anthracite has been brought up previously, so I want to get that into the mix early on.

    Proposal:

    Helmet

An open-faced, flared helmet which consists of a dome with rim and helmet skirt.
A telemetry unit is attached to the right side of the dome and is aligned with the rim.
The telemetry unit consists of a rectangle box with detailing that should match the reference image. The telemetry unit is black.
The lower end of the telemetry unit sits out from the helmet to allow the goggle elastic to feed underneath.
A  raised lip covers the edge of the helmet rim.
Metal/silver Imperial code disks are positioned on both sides of the helmet skirt.
The helmet is to be painted black to match the armor.
The helmet may feature a black chin cup with grey webbing strap.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):

The helmet has a webbing style head suspension similar to work hard hats.
Imperial Code Disks do not feature a notch or groove details.
Goggles and strap are permanently mounted to the helmet, with the telemetry unit mounted directly atop the goggle strap.

Thank you for keeping us on track. And also thank you for bringing up the paint.

Are the goggles going to be a separate item from the helmet in the CRL? -- EDIT I can read, I really can!

Looking at the soft parts, this seems to be identical to the Aldhani Trooper, the fabric even has this brighter staining around the corners on pockets. I think it's fair to say that it's the same thing all around in the soft parts, except the color.

4 Belt Boxes on some of the troopers are a nice touch.

My initial thought on the batons is, that it might be the same as the Rogue One TK/Jyn Erso Baton? Looks like the big black rubber tip is absent or painted silver? Maybe somebody has a good screenshot on this? I've been struggling to find clear ones!

Looks like there's some kind of D-Rings tucked between the chest armor and the shoulder strap mounts.

The baton is similar but not identical to Jyn’s. Hers is a little shorter and has the extra handle 90degrees out like a typical law enforcement baton. I cannot find any pictures or evidence to show the Rix road troopers have that extra handle

    Bumperarooni on this post!

@neoakajdid you ever paint this set of armor with the new paint? I think we're about to get started with knocking this CRL out!

No I was not able to get to it yet. Between a birthday trip and a winter in Colorado that won’t let up it fell behind. But I’m ready as soon and I get some nice weather now. The only thing I’m missing is some updates to my helmet

    This is looking really good.

I just got my WTF armor and I was wondering if you would be kind enough to show me how you attach the armor, what kind of system you use to keep the shoulder buckles in place and such ?

I will take some pictures this weekend. Mine is a IS kit so it may be pretty different in how it would be put together but it would give some ideas

A little update on the helmet!

Kenyon from Etsy and I are taking good steps to make sure we demonstrate the most accurate interpretation of the helmet at least up to L2 standards. What he has on his sale page will be incredibly different to what we are making right now.

Here's a picture of the progress with the first coat of SW Green-black as noted from @TeaJay Build.

How much different? I received one from him not long ago

I’m still recovering from surgery on my left arm so the picture with me pointing is as high as I can reach up with the armor on(extra weight on the arm and shoulder).

tomorrow I hope to get the shins glued, and the biceps finished. I have been looking more and more at the Montana Shock Black and it really looks good for a color match, so hopefully I can help “argue” that color for the CRL. Speaking of, when are we gonna start working on that?
