  1. How's everyone doing? It got a little quiet in here, lol. Just wanted to make sure everyone's alive and well.
  2. How often would a person need to be painting the bottom of a boot in order to be determined as "accurate"? I feel like that would wear off after every outing if you were to paint the bottom of a rubber boot and walk around in it for any length of time.
  3. Are there any other models that have armored spats? I haven't looked atm, but I can check later. I feel it'd be safe to say it's a limitation of the model, but yeah.
  4. Right, I guess I'm not explaining what I meant very clearly. I'll try and find a reference pic to explain what I mean. Isn't this piece, like, a covering on top of the boot? Like this, but plastic (or w/e applicable material) That would cover the rectangles you're focusing on.
  5. Wouldn't these shoes be adequate? I thought there was a plating or something going over the top of the ankle that would inevitably cover those horizontal bars? Or am I misremembering
  6. Oh wow, I wasn't getting updated notifications. You guys have written quite a lot! Good to see it's progressing steadily. I'm still down here in SWFL saving up my money for the move. I can't wait to get started once I move to Jax and get settled in Keep up the good work! It's appreciated!
  7. I keep putting too many irons in my fire I get sidetracked and finish nothing, lmao. We'll see how it goes!
  8. Wow, this looks absolutely fantastic. I had no idea there was already so much progress on this armor. Is Jim still taking orders? I noticed you said you were slightly under 6 ft. I'm 6'1" at 180lbs, pretty lean. How is the fit? Love the guide on where you found each part. Extremely helpful. Hope to join you soon!
  9. Hey! Noticed someone on the FB page said you guys had finished the CRL. Nice work! Looking forward to it!
  10. Oh, that was the image you posted, so I thought you were referencing your model. Degginal Nox's model is a bit different, so I assumed it was yours. Apologies, This is primarily the thread I've been staying in, so I didn't know yours was completed.
  11. Is this your updated model that you were working on? It's come a long way @_@
  12. Idk, short of reaching out to the design team directly, all we can do is assume. It just strikes me as strange since no other units have pauldrons like that, and seems like it could easily just have been a quirk that was overlooked and never patched. Like a typo in the rotation numbers for the mesh skeleton, which could easily happen. (Just look at the 212 story monolith in the new Flight Simulator, lol) It's taking design liberties into our hands, but I think would be a very reasonable assumption to make that they were intended to be down, like the pauldrons on all the other units, but we can agree to disagree, if that's the case.
  13. That honestly seems more like a graphical thing rather than intended design. Physically, pauldrons wouldn't be elevated like that unless there was some kind of angled hard point.
  14. How are they normally attached? I assume to the shoulder straps, correct?
  15. I'm just sitting here, lol. I'm not sure what I can contribute.
  16. Dude! I just realized you're the guy! Lol I remember seeing your in-progress pics on the SWNZ message boards! I had no idea you were here as well! That's so great! You did an amazing job. Very well done, mate!
  17. Oh, no doubt. I've read everything you guys have posted. I don't necessarily understand a lot of it, because I've never made a costume, but I'm definitely looking for something to be acceptable. I won't be able to really dive into actual construction until I'm moved up to Jacksonville, but I'm definitely compiling everything along the way, so I can hit it full force once I'm ready
  18. Yay~ Now I'm not so sad, lol. I really do love his model. He does such great work on updating the old models into more detailed versions while staying true to the source material.
  19. But the difference between the Ghost Trooper and this would be that a Dark Trooper is actually canon, correct? Even thought it's a fan-made model, wouldn't that be akin to the same thing being done with kishdr? From what I can see of the BF2 model, he's heavily faithful to the source material. I mean, some liberties to design have to be made when you're creating the CRL for a DT, otherwise we'd all come out looking like polygons. He does a great detail view here (similar video to Blue Hatter's) that I think would be very helpful when determining stuff for the CRL. Even if all of it isn't used, can't it still be a good reference? Lol, I noticed that, too! Honestly, I think the kneepads are the biggest change to the costume. From everything else I've seen of the model, so far, it seems really faithful to the oldschool BF DT.
  20. Hope nobody minds. I don't necessarily know the correct protocol for this, so I'll just drop a link here, and delete it if it's incorrect. Here's all the reference pics I have atm of the updated Dark Trooper model from the new Battlefront 2. Working on getting the 3D model files from the creating artist for reference, if possible. https://imgur.com/a/SIDKcDm
  21. Uh, yeah xD Lol Not necessarily a remake, but there was a new Battlefront and Battlefront 2 made by EA the past few years. This is a Dark Trooper from the new Battlefront 2. I don't have the game purchased yet, so I'm not able to rip the files for a 3D Model, but I plan to in the future. I have several images that I can share of this version in the reference pics thread, if interested. I really like the level of detail in this guy compared to the oldschool Battlefront model. Also, I'm reaching out to the original model creator to see if I can get the model files from him directly, and use them in a 3D viewer for reference. Originally, I was sourcing all my material from the oldschool Battlefront, like you and several others. It's only recently that I've had time to look back into it, and when I did, I managed to find out that this guy had been released, so I was really excited. I also, found a guy in New Zealand who had apparently made a Dark Trooper suit, much like Blue Hatter's design, based off the oldschool Battlefront game. It looked great, but I will admit I am really digging this new model.
  22. Hello lovely people! I'm glad to see Dark Trooper is getting so much interest, now! I've read through all of the comments here, but as I don't know much about regulations, I'll just spectate! Blackwatch did mention that you might, or might not, be also looking at the new model for references, but I didn't see anything regarding it. What are the thoughts on it?
