Yeah I dont know of any found parts as such as a lot of the costume we believe was 3D printed from scratch and the tanks - well if they were real ? would be highly engineered for the purpose of fire I think you'd have to start with the missed detail on the lid - then I would honestly look at electronics for the lights in the tanks and then do a complete overhaul of the tanks assembly, as that would be where the main "detail" is going to be in my opinion ?? One of the things I could think of would be for example a clear "oval" frame for the tanks. I'd need to go over the whole CRL and pull out pieces that you could start to get technical with. The hose coupler on to the tanks is another as you could specify this, and so on.... Any thoughts if this is the route to go ??

I'd like to see a stage 2 - but what else would you add ?? Yes the black line on the lid - but what else ?? I suppose you could add electronics to the tanks and flamethrower so they light up ? but dont know the extra details you could add in reality as the armour is pretty comprehensive and for screen accuracy there is a huge amount of material to review ??

So after a few years of having this costume and as more accurate Lids have become available - I've found my "forever lid" lol ! Really happy with the sculpt on this and so updated from old (Left) to new (Right) this week. new lid 1 by jeditid1973, on Flickr newlid comparison by jeditid1973, on Flickr Thought I'd better kit up and show it now with the new lid. newlid full 2 by jeditid1973, on Flickr new lid full 1 by jeditid1973, on Flickr Soooooo much happier with the kit now and all approved for my trooping pleasure !

Hey all It's been a couple of years since Clint beat me by 2 weeks in being the first flamey ! never gonna let him forget it ! but as time as passed and bearing in mind December maybe the last chance for red carpet for the FO ! I want to upgrade my lid as I don't like it and the chin and hose holders are basically too big ! I saw the Anovos lid sculpt and liked it but being in the UK and well - it being ANOVOS for $699 they can go whistle ! So Hive mind of Spec Ops who do we believe has the most accurate lid sculpt now ??

It's a good spot Torri - I dont think any of us picked it up as part of our builds. It would be good to see what the BF2 version has on it's details - I know the lid has the indent and maybe it was added to just show this detail and dont think it was ever picked up originally as the tanks tend to cover this part of the lid. I would think the group shot was likely CGI and maybe added afterwards ? Be good to see if we need to add it or not or whether it's a case of adding shadow to the indent - difficult to pick out on these.

So just been to MCM Comic Con in Birmingham, UK and a few of the guys wanted to take some pictures. It would be rude not to let them do it - so here's a few. There's a couple more I am waiting on for true legendary status - but I'm stoke with these !! mem2016 by jeditid1973, on Flickr A few flamey shots by jeditid1973, on Flickr A few flamey shots by jeditid1973, on Flickr Credit to Garry Speight Photography and Film and Cosplay by Phoenixlibra

So I'm sending the suit in for its paint job now, then I'll add the speaker cloth to the holes, and the thigh strap with the bullets. Other than that I do believe I'm done ! Ready for clearance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The clamps I had 3D printed by a friend - you can get them from engineering firms I think - Pipe Collars I think they are called.
-
So just a few test fittings, shins on the way and the suit in for painting this week. Then to repaint lines, add butt plates and then I'm done! Ready for clearance Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

so did the spats last night with 6" elastic, works well. Refitted the quick connect hose to the tanks and flamethrower. Used Rare Earth magnets to connect to the flamethrower - with 2 superglued to the spigot on the thrower and 2 more glued on the end of my hose. Seems to work really well and should take most of the strain too. Also got a quick release the other end - so easy storage. Mocked up the biceps and trimmed, now off to my seamstress to get the gaskets done so I can fit everything else properly to allow for the gaskets. Finding painting a nightmare though ! got some cracking the other day on the chest. may end up taking it all in to a body shop and asking a pro to do it ! Next job is to attach rubber belt, boxes and crotch and butt plate and get everything else fitted except legs and arms. All the photos i see say that it's overlap construction on thighs and shins, probably velcro on the insides. Then flush seams on outside shins and over lap outside thighs. Get some photos up later.

just the bit about LED's that all ? just means adding electronics to the kit - which I'll need to go back and retro fit.

woo hoo !

I agree Clint. No one has a photo of anything close to the screen used tanks and the rear of the tanks. In fact the two suits we do have photos of themselves are different and one has a different lower brace. So in terms of accuracy we only have the toys for representations on what was behind the tanks. Even on sizing it's difficult as there is nothing to scale from that is consistent. The photos show larger tanks - like mine - the diecast toys from Disney show smaller like Clints - it's all perspective and we dont have anything giving us accurate measurements - so it's a little best guess isnt it? I'm with you on making the CRL flexible in certain areas, and would ask that if we're to go for true screen accuracy (or as much as we know) we allow that to happen on the upgrade program for Spec Ops. It's a bit like a sandie's back pack - it's a karrimor frame if you can get one - but most don't and still are able to clear. Over to you guys. Point of interest what is holding up a CRL going for approval now guys ? I'm hoping to get cleared before November 22nd for our big MCM ComicCon in Birmingham - and am putting armour together now. I'm expecting to be there by the end of September for photos for clearance ?? any thoughts ??

One thing to note is that that 4th cylinder - at the rear does NOT connect to the overflow at the bottom. It stops about 2/3 of the way down and there is a gap. This is shown on the toy's backplate for the 12" figure. You can see in Rob's photos above that it doesnt connect all the way down. Unfortunately if you put this in be aware that MLC fibreglassing tanks wont clear as they connect. He was informed of this by me and made them like this based on a "wikipedia" look up of how Flamethrowers worked ?? Maybe this should be in Level 2 or 3 classification??
