Totally agree Mark. That's one of the most uniform features of the shoe that is visibly seen. If we open it that far, might as well include every sneaker imaginable. Can you imigine how many questions there will be about "Is this shoe approvable?". Will be a board clogging nightmare.

Magnificent Derrek. Can't wait to wear it with pride one day.

Thanks for pointing out the blaster earlier to me Mark. I may go that same route.

No problem Chris!

My pleasure.

Here's a link to a scam adviser search of the website. Read the reviews, it's definitely not legit. https://www.scamadviser.com/check-website/scottsbrook.com.au

I'd order at your own risk from them. That website is set up like some of the Chinese knock off sites people have been burned by. The key seems to be there's no way to actually contact the company as is the case with this one.

Death Trooper - Optional Extras/Variants
bwattsup replied to marktoots's topic in Imperial Death Trooper
Good spot Greg! -
I made enough ribs for 2 sleeves yesterday. The elbow gasket material is the same as used for the spats. The shoulder material is jersey over foam. They aren't perfect, but will do for now. Haven't decided what material to make the forearm out of yet. It's more of a compression shirt material. Elbow: Shoulder: Two sleeves worth:

I honestly think it wouldn't even be listed as an accessory. From the pic seen, it seems to just be a found item while they're searching for something/someone. It'll be a nice piece for trooping, but that's about it.

Rogue One Death Trooper Research/Build Thread

I'm actually kinda glad people are laying off the Deathtrooper. The early adopters are gonna pave the way on this one and become a much tighter group because of it. -
Rogue One Death Trooper Research/Build Thread

Ouch Greg! Sorry man. Wish it would have worked out. I don't think the would for 3 reasons Scott: 1) The sole pattern isn't uniform in height with the ribs, and the toe end has a different pattern all together. 2) The visible stitching, and where it occurs on the sole 3) The sidewall of the shoe doesn't come up to the toe end. It goes back towards the heel. -
I've got to use velcro for part of it. The material is a poly/spandex mix and loves to pull. It flips up on one corner because of that. I just have to find the best way to attach velcro without destroying the fabric. gonna play around with the design some more this week.

Thanks Jim! I never thought the sewing skills I picked up from my Scout would turn into a passion for it. I had a discussion with my daughter about it yesterday. It was a little strange considering I spent so much time in my youth being dragged out to cloth stores, and waited til I was 40 to pick it up.

Par_'s Rouge One Deathtrooper W.I.P. for 501st
bwattsup replied to Par_'s topic in Imperial Death Trooper
The plastic sheets should be pretty easy to find. Just look up your local plastic distributor in your area, and swing by to pick them up. If your vehicle wont hold a full sheet, they'll usually cut it in half for you for no charge. If they don't, mark it off in the center and score a straight line across it. ABS is a "score and snap" material. -
Thanks Scott! There is a style of Doc Martens that are readily available called Talib's. They are pretty much the same as the Mayer's that I have. Expensive, but would certainly work.

I took a break from the pouches, and turned my attention to the shoe spats today. Here's my first attempt on it after I played around with some headliner foam and fabric. Hopefully gonna be able to use this material for the undersuit and gaskets. Just gotta tighten up the line straightness.

Par_'s Rouge One Deathtrooper W.I.P. for 501st

Love seeing the creativity. Best of luck on your build! -
Love this costume too Todd! I've never been at the front end of building one like with this one. It's super exciting to help lead the way with some of the other early adopters.

I've also started work on the 3 pouches that attach to the belt both front and back. The first time I made them, I tried to use the same method as the Biker Scout pouches I've made in the past. Unfortunately, the seam lines are much different for the DT pouches. After some discussion with both Mark and David, We came to a consensus on how the were constructed. So I went back to the drawing board on my patterns, and made them differently. They still aren't perfect, but they're getting closer. Need to make a few more adjustments, and then I'll be happy with them. Here's my first attempt: And here's the second attempt:
