TX Shadow Trooper WIP - Kit from WTF - Andys Build
First0rder replied to First0rder's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
Great thx, will paint the screws black and remove the extra edging on the 4 ab buttons. No biggie here but just wondering your thoughts on the 2 vs 4 mounting screws for the Holster, Stunt vs Hero. Are we permitted to wear if as a Hero config? -

Got a few new pics of progress. Flipped over to Rivets on the Left Ab/Kidney Plate. Belt (Front) Belt (Rear) For the Belt, can the Front facing screws stay Silver or need painted black? Also for the Holster, i have it attached following the Stunt configuration using 2 mounting screws (1 for each band), however am i permitted to use the Hero mounting configuration where that one uses 4 mounting screws (2 for each band). I didnt see anything in the CRL for either in STD TX or Specialist. Thanks -
Not sure if you could use the Black Series Helmet without modifications to it. Since it has indented tube stripes and teardrops as well as incorrect mic tips. oh an incorrect S trim. but that can also be replaced. All said end done, youd prob be better off buying the bucket along with your armor so the colors match and cast off the same ABS/PVC. The one in my Avatar is a Black Series and i just use it for kicking around and display but dont use it otherwise. Andy

Updates made so now the chest plate overlays the abs. I had to shorten the straps between the chest and ab plate as well as move the inner canvas shoulder strap Snap back by an inch. This gave me 3/4Inch overlay. Let me know your thoughts Front Back Right Left Front Close -

Thanks Ricky!! Ill shorten the Strapping from the Chest plate to the Abs plate and also test with with undersuit on. Those sweats as you mentioned might be too thick too causing additional lower inaccuracies. Then after if needed, ill move both the shoulder straps back to 3 bumps, Will redo and repost this weekend Thanks again for all of your help ! Andy -

Thanks Ukswrath Heres where i read. they mention to count 5 ribs and other says reference to Hans Armor. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/39359-placement-of-shoulder-straps/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11455-my-ap-shoulder-straps/ Thought i dont see anything in the CRL stating how many ribs are required on the front chest plate. only the following so i might be good to move the shoulder straps back too? thus lowering the chest plate. This is for TX Specialist approval: Shoulder Straps These shall free float in back. These shall be glued in front. The plastic shoulder straps need to be held down in the back via a black elastic band to the black fabric that connects/bridges the chest and back piece. -

Thanks, ive noticed that too so will shorten the chest to ab straps. Question on the shoulder straps though. Ive read that the shoulder straps need to have 4 little humps on the chest plate. If i remove and re-adhere the Shoulder straps making 3 little humps on the chest plate, then i could also lower the chest plate to overlap with the ab plate. Whats the ruling on that as dont want to be non-compliant there. Thanks Andy -

Havnt done it myself but paint adhesion is going to be key as when / if you scratch the paint, you'll see the base white color. Youll prob want to scuff up the entire suit with a scotch-bright pad, extra fine, then clean the armor with a safe PVC PrepAll surface cleaner, then would recommend Automotive Primer and Auto Paint. Only way that youll get a good shine. Other paints will Chalk over time, except for Auto paint. If you want to go the extra mile, get a quote for a paint job at your local auto shop;. Some gents with DeathTroopers went that route for a super shine. Anyone else have any pointers? but hope that helps Andy

Hi All. Latest progress. Cut and sized then installed AFX Mirrored Lens. I used a Dremel for the rough cut then fine tuned it using sand paper. I left the factory protective film on during this process. Next, i installed the new Mirrored lens and repainted both the frown and vocoder with classic Silver. Previously it was Metallic silver which believe reflected white light. Close up with Mirrored lens and repainted frown and vocoder. -
Yeah he does Issac. Hit him up, i talked to him already and hes expecting you. If he feels that the armor wont look right on you, he wont sell it. Hes good like that. For me, they offered to send me a chest plate just to see if it fits right, so might offer the same to you. Hope this helps. Andy

Hi All, who would you recommend for Belts? Would like to ensure that the belt is also Specialist approved. Considered TrooperBay but they are quite long, Overall Length of 52 inches, and would need to be trimmed down. Though $37 isnt a bad price. Heard Trooper Rob Kittle and or Wolfman? not sure how to contact him/them other then PM if they are in Specops. Thanks

Possibly lighting Steve as they were both freshly painted using the same color. though i think the Enamel is too Glossy so im going to have another go at it to mute it more. will try a satin or semigloss silver next. -

Thanks Ricky. Q - how is the Color Silver that i used? is it too muted or should i use a silver that is more Aluminum color? I used Testors Model Master Silver Enamel. But i also have Model Master Aluminum and Model Master Chrome Silver. What Color is the approved silver to meet Specialist? thanks -

Thanks. I was wondering about the vocoder color choice. There's no reference photo for the split color. Was more if would be allowed split color like that. If not no issues as will adjust. Thx for the feedback
