Mudtrooper / Mimban Officer Build - I think it's possible!

Thanks! I got to troop in it this weekend, in a rainstorm. Really nice having an actual raincoat in those conditions, even if I have redo the mud. ? -

It's all but confirmed that Walt is now pulling/shipping the Mudtrooper armor. I suspect the assembly of all that is going to take me a lot longer, since I've never really had to do all that much armor before. Also, with the weather being what it is, it may be tough to paint until Spring. I'm hoping for a day or two to at least get the base coats down, since the other stuff I can do inside. I bought gloves and a Yugo backpack for the buckles. Now I have to think about the tunic and pants. I have a pattern and fabric for the tunic, and I have some dockers I can cut up. But I also know that Jim Tripon does a very good set, and it's not very expensive. Might be worth the cost. I dunno yet. I think the only thing I really need to source now are hoses. -

Approved (not that it affects anything with SpecOps just yet). On that note, though, it looks like WTF should be pulling the Mudtrooper stuff this week. So hopefully I'll get that soon, and still have a good weather day or two to paint before the frigid winter sets in. -

That mix is why I really love the anthology films. They really went back to those roots of using old stuff with greeblies glued on. -

So the premise of this whole thing was to share the armor, but I'm still waiting on the armor and yet, I had everything else for the officer. So I guess the experiment is a failure, because I ended up ordering officer armor from Intergalactic Supply (@Cantina Security), and submitted my officer today: -
That is awesome

I got my Plashes yesterday (I ordered 5 because I need 4 for reenacting, and one to dye black for this project), so there's that. Also looks like Walt has started pulling the armor. -

Well, I pushed up my order with Walt, made it for the whole mud trooper kit. Hopefully soon! -

Well, I can now add "dyeing leather" to my resume! -
It's definitely something to have on display at a con or some other event like that rather than carrying it in a parade or whatever.

The Solo book has photos of a case with medical equipment. Admittedly, that may not be enough to source for a CRL, but you certainly could build those prop.

I got my long drop box today. I think I understand how to hinge it, but if someone has photos, I'd appreciate it (I think it's used in some other kits). For painting it, I thought I'd do silver first, then use toothpaste as a mask before making it green. That way it appears like it's metal, same as my other painted parts. Also loving this forum re-org, way easier to find all the mud threads! -
I like "or similar." Given my background (I'm an historical reenactor), I'm going to do my damnedest to get it as accurate I can, so it doesn't matter to me personally in the long run. I just want us to be consistent. And obviously the red and yellow are way easier to match than a specific Pantone color.
-
Is a GML going to know the exact brand and color someone used? They're going to look at pictures and compare them, but all sorts of factors at play there.
-
If we're dropping references to specific Pantone colors (which I wholeheartedly support), we shouldn't also have references to a very specific, named yellow for the biceps, should we?

I got my belt boxes and belt buckle today, and I bought some paint. If the weather improve this week, I'll be able to paint them. Edit: -
Looks amazing!

Just bought fabric and a pattern from @amcclary's Etsy shop! And, since I've lost weight, I've had to clear out my closet of work clothes. Found a few pair of black cotton workpants I'm going to modify. -

Yeah, I think at the end, weathering it means as long as it's basically right, it should be fine. I'm going to try to wash this sample a couple of times, maybe leave it in the sun to fade, too, to see if I can get it closer to "drab", but I suspect either way this is the fabric I'm going with. -

I got a sample of some olive bull denim. How's the color? (With and without flash, just in case.)
