Shadow

Thought I would post this... I've been wanting to do this for sometime and I hope to get started soon, but I am going to try to desgin a flat pack for the main boxs on Weir's belt. I need to upgrade soon and thought using styrene to make the boxes lighter would be a good idea. With that I want to make a flat pack of each box. You would then be able to print...place on your styrene...cut out..and then glue. Again this might take sometime as I have to work all this out...but the idea is there! Trying to help the future Weirs out there! I'll start a new thread once I get a chance to get started on this. I have a LOT of projects I'm working right now so this might still be a little while before I can get this rolling.

So, I hear some people are looking for me? I became a true "shadow" and disappeared for a while. We are "Spec Ops" so we should be hard to find. After CV life caught up with me a little bit, but all is fine now. I also started a month long project build in October that took me away from the world of Star Wars for a bit. Then Christmas came and then after Christmas came....blah..blah... and the rest is history. But with that said I hope to get Weir back out and get another shot at approval. Again sorry for the long absences, a lot going on and very little time to spread around.

I can't believe I missed you crazas. There were sooo many people I wanted to meet but that place was so big. I'm suprise I found mos of you. Again thanks guys, I'm glad you all liked it. I was really suprised at how many people knew who I was, even to the kids! I guess having an action figure come out a few months before CV helped. So, during CV my GML told me he couldn't approve me. Weir doesn't have three refences. He told me he LOVED the costume and that this was all that was holding him back. Is there anything else I could do, or is this a done deal until a three refence comes out? I am still VERY happy with this costume and plan to get much wear out of it, apporved or not!

Here are two of the BEST pics I have! And they are GOOD!!!! I'm sure more will pop up on Facebook down the road. Weir was a HUGH hit at CV! It was Great to meet some of Spec Ops guys. Sorry I didn't catch others, that was one big place!!!

Is the Spec Ops photo after the Legion photo? If it is and Weir is not approved, then I will be in my Snowtrooper. So, I don't know how this will work. I REALLY want to be in the Legion pic, first time for this. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Just in case.

Soooo, work has me on overtime ALL week and on Saturday. Doesn't look like I will have the time to submit Weir for 501st aprroval before CV. I just have to much to do before I leave. Don't have the time to take new pictures. So, Weir won't get the stamp of approval before CV...BUT the good news is Weir WILL be at CV!!! That was my goal from the start of this costume. Once I get back I will work with my GML and get this costume APPROVED!!! Now, let's get ready to CELEBRATE!!! Thanks for all the comments and the GREAT help while working on this costume!!

OKAY here are the PICS!! This took me 5 months to build. (Really 2 years ) I give you.....GENERAL WEIR!!!!! I had to do this!

Got the holster on the boot this morning!!! I am editing the photo shoot now. Just have to load them and post them soon!!!!! Heat index during the shoot....103!! Prep for the Orlando heat!! izzi, I don't know if I'm ready for approval yet. I don't have a scout pistol right now due to CV funds. NOW, this has been something I wanted to bring up and that is in the comic General Weir is always using what looks like an E-11. So, the case could be made that the pistol and the E-11 would work for him. This would, of course have to be worked out during the process of approval I'm sure. The only BIG thing that I have to fix is the collar on my coveralls. I have a piece to make a closer, but havn't had a chance to sew it on. Once that piece is on I will try sending in pics. Will I need to send anything else? Weir may not be "offical" yet but he WILL be at CV!!!! Okay...pictures coming soon!!

Boots are DONE!!!! Just waiting on the flaps to dry. Tomorrow adding the holster and fixing a "few" things. With luck and no rain I could have some outside pictures tomorrow afternoon!!!! General Weir is almost here!!!

Oh I forgot.....my mom is AWESOME!!!!!

My mom work on the right boot today. She did the ALL the sewing with a needle and thread!!! She is going to have the left boot done tomorrow sometime!!!! After that glue down the flaps and add the holster ( working on that tomorrow night!). I'm off thursady and if everything works out I hope to go outside for a quick General Weir photo shoot!!

It's going to be VERY close. The hand sewing is going to slow me down, but I have nothing else going on. I want to get this wrapped up to have some down time before CV. (Yeah, right )

WOW! that was a lot of posting! More to come...of course.

Boots are getting closer!! I will say I am not happy with how these turned out. As I was gluing the vinyl on the toe it wrinkled a little on me. BUT they will have to do! Tomorrow I plan to cut the patteren for the back part and work on that the rest of the week. If everything goes to plan I hope... HOPE... to have Gerenal Weir wrapped up by Sunday night. I plan to work on this ALL weekend so things look good for this to happen.

Today I worked on weathering the belts. Some may think the belts shouldn't be wethered, but for me weathering is what makes a Star Wars costume POP! The belts (as of right now) is all I plan to weather. Might put a very little on the "V" so it matches. Here is one belt weathered and the other not. This helps tone the red down just enough and pick up some of the details. And here are both belts weathered. Still have to add the other ribbed section on the other side, but I have to trim some down to match (best ad possible) the one on the other belt.

What I did today.... Foam in helmet.... Helmet is DONE Worked on belt placement over pouches. Added snaps to the inside chest armor for side strapping. Upper armor should be DONE tomorrow! Painted all rivets black on belt and boxes. This is DONE!! Got the paper template Finished tonight for the boots. Some sizing issue still, but I have a good idea and can work them out once I start cutting the vinyl. Tomorrow weather the red belts and then rivet the ends to the back! Getting real close now!!!

Try the belts over the pouches and..... I like it!!! I still think I'm going to add some foam to to fill them in just a little. Now, to work on the chest armor a bit. So, the strap that is under the arm and around the chest, that pulls the front and back armor together. Well, can I use a snap on the inside of the chest armor to attcah the straping once on?This is how I did the Snowtrooper and it makes it easy to put on and take off.

Bought my boots last night! Goning to star woring on paper templates today so I can start on the vinyl cutting soon!! Also going to work on the costume today as well. Full day of work ahead!!

Okay here is the pic everyone has been waiting for, the first full test picture with the red belts. Still have a lot of loose ends to finish on the armor and belts. The top red belt needs some work. I think I need to space the boxes a little more like the bottom belt so it will fit better. I'm also plan to weather the red belts a little. They are to clean and maybe a little to bright red. Well, see. Overall I think this is going to turn out great! (Better than I thought at first, that's for sure. ) Might take a day off from Weir, going out to hit some yard sales tomorrow. Better known as prop hunting! LMK, what you think and if you see something that I don't.
