Upgrade project

Recommended Posts

Well well! I have finished my TK and I am now ready to start my Shadow Scout upgrade project. I will be upgrading to the specialist status level. This upgrade will also serve as a base for my other scout projects.

Now I have a CRL question

Belt must be made from one piece at the front, and not separated with fabric in between the front part where the drop box straps attach, apart from at the back where the TD box sits.

What the heck is this talking about?????

Most likely, you have already done this with the belt. It's referring to the nylon webbing used in the back portion.

Ill be using a new belt, but ill take a pic of mine and make sure how I have my current one is right, otherwise ill make the correct changes.

and noted on the flaps

Aww man I wanted to do that....... :teehee:

Noted on that as well. Is the SC belt good enough for specialist? If I put it together with glue and not rivets

Yes...that is what I have for my setup. I basically just used Gorilla glue on the two outer parts to attach them to the main belt. It's pretty smooth and hard to even tell that it's done that way.

Yeah, SC will be fine, with some work.

Ideally you'd want to butt the two rear parts up to the front part. Add a strip of backing plastic behind it with some decent glue, then fill any resulting gap so it's nice and smooth.

Then paint to suit.

So ideally there should be no visible seam ?

Is that a must for Specialist or just ideal ?

They have to be as seamless as possible.

I'd personally go with no visible seams, but I am not the only man on the judging panel.

So not technically a 'must', but certainly ideal. Each suit is judged on it's own merit, and each part is scrutinised on an individual basis.

But if it's completely seamless.... then I have nothing to moan about (and where's the fun in that!).

Yay..... NOT.... my boots died :icon_eek: So another part of my upgrade will be making new boots.

I am also working with SC to get a few parts for my fiancee. She wants to make a convention worthy scout... Kinda like the fem scout patch :teehee: I just hope he gets back to me soon as we hope to have it for a con at the end of next month.

Ill be there friday and saturday, and its here in the springs if thats the one you are thinking of. Val will have her Bo-Katan for the con now, as SC is not getting back to me....

On that note, if anyone has b-grade SC parts, let me know!

Glue on the new boots is almost dry. Then add the holster, make a new bund and then ill get some updated pictures. I will have everything ready for lvl 2 except the vest, that will be a bit still
