First time ever..TX build

Recommended Posts

Today I started with gluing then limbs.

I have plenty of extra black abs in stock so I guess I'm going with the coverstrips method and Velcros close...

Is Coverstrip method preferred for approval/specialist?

Looking at the bucket, and you may be planning this already, the ears need to be formed to the tube more. Doesn't look like you've touched them yet, so I am assuming it's on your list, but better safe than sorry. For specialist, cover strips are acceptable.

Yes I just realized its a problem as well. The ear part is really bothering me for quite a while. But I'm kinda confused about how to do it properly...Any suggestion will be most grateful! Much appreciated!

tried fitting everything is going well so far~

But Got a problem... I'm kinda thin and trimmed the thighs at the back, and now the thighs cannot come together cuz the gap is too big... I heard about the hot water bath method I wonder how it works...

I use the hot water bath technique for almost everything that doesn't fit the way I'd like. Here's a couple brief tutorials regarding hot water bathing.

Thanks ur builds are very impressive!! So questions:

- basically I boil some hot water and sink them for 30secs and I can mold them right?

-Should I pay attention when molding them to prevent going off shape?

- And how much time I have to mold them after removing from the bath?

Ahh extra question, does it work if I shower them with hot water since I dont really have a container large enough for the abs plate that I am going to change as well....

Thanks for the creds  First off, test some scrap first to see how it reacts. Armor can be different thicknesses and this needs to be taken into account when dipping. I've found 1+mm thickness can be pliable for 30-60 seconds after removing depending on ambient temps.

I generally have hot and cold water containers side by side. Once I pull a piece out of the hot water I hold it in the shape I desire (wearing the correct PPE of course) then I immediately dip it into the cold water still holding the shape. 30-60 seconds in cold water and the plastic should retain its shape. In some cases you may have to re-do a couple times. NOTE: Whatever you use to hold the shape, hand or other, make sure you spread out the surface contact so you don't indent a specific spot from too much pressure.

Shower, no not really because it generally only heats up a specific area instead of the entire section. Go to your local hardware store and buy a couple 5 gallon buckets. Put them in a sink or tub. Use as many pots as possible to heat as much water as needed to keep all the water hot, close to boiling.

Started with the dropboxes tdy, the kit comes in with dropboxes without inner boxes so I improvised with adding the black abs cover...
