Helmet Padding

I used some old military pads I had laying around.

Im going to use my hat just like we did in the army. A lot of guys flipped their BDU hat around, and had the suspension opened up so the hat would fit. It made a much better cushion especially if you had the sewn on ranks.

Im necroing this topic on purpose because on my last helmet build I used a bump cap. bump caps are smaller than regular hard hats that have a space between you and the hard plastic.  Bump caps only keep you from knocking your head against things when working. I put some foam on the side of the bump cap after cutting off the bill.  Fits GREAT. I hot glued it in place.
