TK 21523 Swamp Trooper WIP! starting here but will be slow.

Recommended Posts

Going to go ahead and start my WIP thread here. I am going to buy my TB kit in november, but will be collecting soft parts till then.

Figured I would update this with everything I got, that way anyone wanting to do this build can do so with the help of this thread. Not a ton of info out there on the Swamp Trooper.

My Flight suit is a modified Red Kap Coverall. I have added the neck collar closure and removed pockets where needed.

My armor is a Studio Creations Scout kit painted with Gloss Meadow Green (2X Rustoleum)

My cummerbund was purchased from Tye O'Dell, Contact him on FB, this cummerbund is amazing!

My boots were bought off Amazon, but basically any boot with a black sole will work, then cut out the notches with a utility knife (this was fun!). Tutorial used from Biker scout forum

Boot covers were made with Kelly green Faux leather boat upholstery, this was bought from Etsy, you only need about a Yard.

Gloves are from Wampa Wear, they are the same gloves used for the Scout, and are amazing quality (if only they would stock their other stuff)

Blaster (Holdout) is Hyperfirm

Balaclava is from Amazon (any one will do)

First up is my jumpsuit came in today!

Working on my Cummerbund next.

the phrase "F*** It" seems to be the theme of all my builds hahaha. I mean to take them slow and BAM! Ok so i ordered my Cummerbund and pouches last night from a custom builder for a great price, and he has done the Swamp bund before, and have just ordered a SC kit, full top to bottom. Cant WAIT!!!

Here is a stupid question, and im sure im over thinking this way too much, but what rivet size should I use for construction of the helmet and belts and such? anyone have a good suggestion on rivet tool?

Not stupid.  Ask away!  Should only need the rivets if you're going for Level 2 Specialist approval…which I always encourage people to do.

That said, 12 rivets in total…2 for each knee (4 total), 2 for the belt, 4 for the boot holster, 1 for the bottom of the tank to attach to back plate, and 1 for the tank topper.  No rivets for the helmet.

Rivets aren't anyting special…if I remember correctly I just bought a rivet tool w/ the pop rivets of different length included…either at Harbor Freight or Wal-Mart.  I'd show you which one for certain but all my stuff is packed in moving boxes.

Maybe someone else here has one on hand they can show you.

I know rivets are required in the helmet build, but I watched a video of someone building one, and used rivets on everything. not sure how else id keep the helmet together besides screws, and there probably wont be room inside the bucket for that. Thanks for the help though, probably gonna end up just getting something cheap from Harbor freight, and if it doesn't work ill just take it back

I have a 5 piece helmet kit. No rivets required. Held together w a plastic strip, some e6000, and fiberglass inside...bondo outside to smooth the seam.

Ive never built an SC helmet tho. Id be interested to see this video because using rivets on the bucket would not be my recommendation.

Have a link?

Ill see if I can grab you some pics of mine so you can see no rivets should be needed.

yeah here is the link. I just realized in my response i put "are required" and i meant arent required for the helmet build.

They use the rivets to put the sides and visor together, not construction of the entire helmet.

Gotcha. The helmet kit I have is nothing like KS. Mine is a Chef bucket.

Looks good already. Just make sure your flight suit isnt too baggy, you may have to adjust it a little bit.

Just saw this, I think the suit is just baggie enough to give me room to move around. but wont really know until the armor comes in. Its a tricky thing with these suits because I need it to fit my awkwardly large body. I got a flight suit from Cosplay Sky for my Tie, and cant sit down in it because its too short, but fits everywhere else. this one I can sit down in and everything. I may buy 2 more and make my own Tie jumper

Ok, just waiting on the Velcro and we are good to go. Also got notified that my SC kit is on the way!!! Cant wait for BBB. Going to try and knock out the helmet before paint, just to see the fit, then decide if in need to take it apart and paint it, or get something else. Either way probably going to keep it for display if it doesnt fit!
