KyloBen414
I think I way have found a way to save money on the boots but wanted to see what others peoples thoughts were. I was wondering if I could get some cheap rain boots that were the right height, then go around the outside of the boots with vinyl and add the tab on the bridge of the foot to match the CRL. Any thoughts on why this will or won't work would be appreciated. Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
having seen a boot or three made, heres my thoughts: Unless you mod the sole it will look wrong. The boot shape may be right depending on the boot. You can glue vinyl to it, but I honestly dont know if it will stick. We had a Tusken here made with rubber boots and the FIRST thing it did was have the boot wrappings fall off. Like the first time it was worn. I dont know what kind of glue it was===shoegoo or something rubbery, but it did nto stick at all. It may work, and yuo wont know until you try it. Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
OK- following up on this with recent experince. I am making a bunch of Jawas. a Horde, in fact. And one oft he jawas wanted to use cheap rubber boots which he provided. MOST of the wrappings did not survive long, depsite using 3m Spray77 glue applied heavily. It just sweated right off. I just did my own boot shafts, and it was really simple, just some quality time with a sewing machine, vinyl and velcro. I am wearing my work boots around to break them in before I make the conversion on the front of it, cut the soles, and add the shafts on top. Link to comment
