Inherited #8 swampie

I just wanted to check here for some modifications that I need to do to costumize #8.
 
I’m stuck with the boots. Is there a specific height or an unwritten rule for the boot height? I’m referring to the left boot since I don’t want to remove the holster on the right yet.

As far as the boots...yea, they should not lay under the knees...4 inches off looks like a bit much.  I would say your better off 2"...possibly even 3"

#8 used to be owned by Brokk/TX44579. I went ahead and folded the boot 2” and sewn it. I’ll probably try it on again tomorrow.

Just so you are aware...there will be a slight update to the CRL itself in the next week or so that we've worked on and had proposed for almost a year now.  It primarily adjusts some Level 2 requirements.  If you have any questions about it, I can give you more details and walk you through what you may need to adjust if you are going to attempt a Level 2 Specialist submission here (which would be awesome as we currently only have one Swamptrooper approved for Level 2).  As far as Level 1 approval through your local GML, I would imagine you should be ok.  If you'd like us to take a look at it, feel free to post full body pics and we can as well.

 

P.S.  What part of CT are you from?  I was born there and still visit almost every year to see my in-laws (and to eat my favorite pizza...Sally's Apizza!!!)

It is being modified but yea I don't anticipate it being much work if any if he built it to the current CRL.

Small world...I lived in Enfield till I was 5 and my parents moved us down here to Florida.  I don't remember it much but that is where I'm from exactly lol.

I’ve already modified the boot height and will be attaching the holster later tonight. Stay tuned!

previously, there were two rivets that connected the plastic belt to the webbing. Redid that and now has one rivet.

there are no rivets on the webbing that attach to  both dropBoxes.

Updated belt. Replaced the nylon webbing/drop straps.

used cotton webbing. No rivets.

 

 

 

 

Also replaced decal on the back of the helmet to blackout vinyl.

Very nice!  Progressing well.  A cool side effect of going through this process...even though your armor is green, you will be a great resource for your local garrison mates regarding any scout build.

Hook corrected. Bolt color corrected, sort of, I’m bad with matching colors. I think it’s close enough.

Id go more grey on the bolt.  Im horrible with colors as well but this is looking more blue to me when I see it against the reference.

Whats in the ear hole there?  Make sure its cutout and unblocked (no mesh or anything should be covering the ear hole.

Tank and detonator re-do

I used Vinyl pinstriping from the nearby auto store.

 

Painted rivet
 

I went for 1 Rank stripe.

 

 

Bottom before. Top after.

 

 

Slightly redid the paint on the top of the round greeblie. I’m hoping that the paint job around the round greeblie would pass up as “weathering.”  I tried to pry off the round greeblie but it would not budge.

 

 

I just need to attach the detonator clips and I think I’m ready for a full suit up.... unless there’s something else that I missed.

Coming along nicely.  Ive actually never seen someone employ one rank stripe.  Interesting choice
