Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
looks like the patches Im approved with . Im FIL for the Engineer and 2nd Sapper, so, yea. My snaps are attached to webbing tabs, I cut the webbing off the pouches the way they came, pounded a snap on one end and sewed the webbing to the flap. If you take a close look at the enhanced gallery of the Engineer you'll see how mine are set up. Link to comment
Saifai[TX]
I found these gloves. I think they match pretty good. Do they? Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
Acutally, that moves us off topic, and away from the Patch discussion. You can rename this topic to a WIP topic, or start a new one, but if you rename this one as a WIP it keeps everything in flow. Lemme check on the gloves. Link to comment

Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
they look fine to me. Your GML will ultimately being the one to approve, but if were still a GML I would have no problem approving them. Link to comment

There is a button visible on each flap. But if i paint that black. Would that be ok? Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
Thats a GML Call. If I were GML I would say no. I would cover the button by making a new pocket flap with fabric cut from the leg cuff. I did the same for my neck closure strap. I wrote a short how to on that, its posted here i the forums. EDIT Find out if someone in your area has scrap coverall fabric. I havetorn apart around 50 black coveralls so I always have carcasses, leftover butt pockets etc from pulling them apart to make pilot flilgtsuits. Link to comment
SpaceWelder[501st]
FWIW, I bought two pair of slightly different sizes. That way you can decide if you like one fit/length better than another, and have material for alterations. Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
Very good point Chris, thank you. As you can see, Im a big guy. And buying black coveralls in the US? Good luck!!! Never seen em, only charcoal grey and tan. Everything like that is Mail Order and I stick with one company because I know exactly how they fit. 2 Link to comment
Saifai[TX]
I want to buy 2 overalls and i also had the idea to buy 2 different sizes. So i have enough material for the pockets and so on. 2 Link to comment

SpaceWelder[501st]
Looking Good Bud! If you're looking for feedback, here's my 2 cents: -hem or roll up your cuffs (I think I remember an edit to the CRL allowing for a slightly rolled cuff?) Don't want to look like you stole your big brother's coveralls -adjust the harness so the horizontal pack strap sits a little (25-50mm?) higher. The references have a good look at the back. I tried to relate the horizontal to the cap of my shoulder as it's supposed to be, then the placement of the arm patches becomes clear. I think the top of the patch should approximately align with the bottom of the horizontal. (Hence, raising the horizontal a touch.) -Hide the hooks from the harness to the belt a bit more? I forget if this is a Level 1 or L2 thing. I'm no GML, but that's my eye for detail if you're interested. You'll be a Specialist in no time! 3 Link to comment

Adjusting the harness is no problem, also hiding the hooks (even if it's a L2 thing). i just need to push up the pouches a little bit. But hemming the cuffs... i mean, it would be absolutely no problem. but in my opinion they sit perfect. i literally wear all my jackets this length, also my privat ones. even the ones which were particular tailored for my arm length. Saifai[TX]
I attached the hooks behind the pouches using a wire. This way most of the hook is hidden now. 1 Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
Looking good and the arm seams should present no problems, since its not discussed in the CRL. I have my hooks going through the hole, from the bottom, literally holding the belt from below. Mine are dropped another 1CM down from where you have yours, to hold that bottom edge of the belt. In future, if you want to go L2 *which I totally suggest* you'll need to add a snap and piece of webbing to each of the puches. Look at the CRL, click on the pic and it will take you to the enlarged image. I used the nylon loops I cut off the bottom of the pouch, used to pull it open, and put a snap half on that, then sewed it to the pouch flap. Pretty easy stuff. Link to comment
Saifai[TX]
Yes, i was finishing the pouches for L1 at the moment but for L2 the buttons are needed. I even think that the loop does not have to be sewn because the snap holds in on place. But that's just a guess. I was reading your WIP David and that you going through the hole from the bottom. But the hooks which i have didn't close fit anymore to the belt, so i added the wire. I finished it now so far for L1. ? I moved up the harness. Hiding the pouches a bit more and added the patches. 2 Link to comment

No sweat! Just a fit-and-finish opinion, certainly nothing meant by it. Happy to see more technicians out here! Dju get your goggles yet? They're clutch on a sunny outdoor troop Link to comment
