Hoda[CMD-DCA]
Now that I am done w/ the IAT build, I decided to take a crack at the Engineer, as well! Parts List - Hat: from my staff officer Goggles: Welding goggle from Amazon similar to the style in the parts list Coverall: I couldn't find Natural Workwear or Dickies in my size that would get to me easily, so I went with two pairs of Red Kaps (one to be sacrificed for parts) Imperial Army Patch: Had extras from the IAT build Gloves: Had a pair somewhere Web Harness: Going to follow instructions from the parts thread and make my own with parts from Strapworks Belt: Got them off Amazon this time. Same belt as IAT but black. Pouches: Same. Will add snaps to the pouches (and look for pouches with no visible zippers/cords this time around per feedback from IAT Specialist) Boots: eBay (got a pair of Commuter III boots this time) 1 Link to comment
Hoda[CMD-DCA]
I started w/ the pouches. This was the "easy" part of the build. I got these handcuff pouches similar to the one in the CRL, and added a snap to the front. I then got this gas mask pouch for the back, removed the strap in the front, and added the two snaps per the CRL. Not in these photos, but I also stuffed them with foam to make them look puffy. 1 Link to comment
Hoda[CMD-DCA]
Oh ha, I mean that wasn't the "easiest" part. The "easiest" part is the parts I already have! Hat and gloves. Link to comment
Hoda[CMD-DCA]
Alright, onto the coverall. This was a beast. If you had told me a few years ago I'd be able to do this, I would've laughed at you! I know it's not crazy (removing pockets, making pocket flaps, making collar), but I felt super accomplished! It was a major pain with adding on the pockets since the sewing machine couldn't go so deep ... I was also a bit scared with removing the pants seams and remaking them after, so I just stretched where I can. Turned out well! Original coverall, pockets, collar (no thigh pockets, no flaps on pockets, no chevron strap): I removed the back pockets from the "donor" coverall, and created thigh pockets for the coverall. I then took from the legs of the "donor" coverall and made flaps for the pocket, as well as the chevron strap w/ snap. And then I woke up realizing that .... UGH, the flaps are not the right shape! CRL states "rectangular flap", and the Imperial Army patch is too high! So back to the seam ripper I go, take more from the donor coverall, and remade the flaps (I couldn't reuse the flaps, cut it too close in the back). I relocated the patch down a bit, too. Feeling good about where I am at. Still waiting for the straps to come in so I can make the harness, and the boots (shoes are always the toughest with these things!) 1 1 Link to comment

SpaceWelder[TX]
Yeah you’ll have this wrapped up in no time. For what it’s worth (because I agree, the CRL clearly says “rectangular”, but) my chamfered pocket flaps did get approved. As @Blackwatch says, a lot of the details on this one seems to be up to the GML. Couple specialist coins in a couple months, not too shabby 1 1 Link to comment

Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
Neal has the Crooknights 3d printed pack. I made mine entirely by sintra 3mm and 6mm. You can see it in both our builds. he waited for his to be printed them had to fix all the lines, I just made mine out of Sintra in a few days using cardboard patterns. 2 Link to comment
5tinkytofu
anyone know where to get the tote's commuter III style boots? prefer new. ebay has no stock. seems totes changed out the style too. the midsection material no longer matches the toe portion (non leather like, more like fabric) Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
There is a fairly wide ranging discussion from last year regarding the boots, you can check out these links: As well as my vendor resource list. The thing with online ads and sales is how frequently the lsitings change, which may even be seasonal. Now that we are into Winter, boot sales will start disappearing as we move into Spring and the spring line comes in. it took me a while to find them. you may even have to get a pair of pull on engineer boots, and cut them down. 1 Link to comment
