SpaceMonkey's Mud Trooper Build (Sean Fields 3D Print)

Recommended Posts

I haven't really been active here since joining as I haven't had anything to share, but now I'm beginning the search for parts to start my Mudtrooper armour project, as per the 501st CRL. I'll be using Sean Fields and Empire3D files for the armour pieces and the blaster, both of which will be kindly printed by a local prop builder before being given to me to assemble and paint; as you can see below, I'm starting to try and source everything else I'll need. There's still a a lot of gaps, but how does it look so far? Any suggestions, advice and tips to fill these gaps would be hugely appreciated!

Welcome to the Spec Ops forums!! Great to se another Mud build under way.

Looks like you’ve made a great start deciding on some of the items. My only comment is on the boots. They appear to be jackboots rather than Soviet Officer style boots. Have you confirmed the height measurement? They need to reach just under your knee.

if you have any questions feel free to ask, or you’ll find my build pinned within the Mudtrooper section.

Thanks for the welcome! Glad most of my selections so far have been good - and you're absolutely correct on the boots, seems I missed the "knee high" point on the CRL. My bad! ?

Thanks for pointing out they're Soviet officer style too. Having gone back to the CRL, this looks more like a suitable boot. Would this be acceptable?

If that's all good I'll have to find one in my size. ?

Brilliant, thanks a bunch. I'll look around and see if I can find a pair in my size. Now to decide on the hoses - I checked Rubberfun after giving your build a look @JAFO, but unless I've been clueless and missed one (not out of the norm for me ?) I couldn't find anything similar to the dimensions given in the 501st CRL. I'm going to see what I can find, both locally and around the Internet.

Just given the site another look and they don't seem to have any 06A tubes - there's 6A and 06B tubes as well as a few others, though.

Alternatively I was looking at @87ninefiveone's armour build and saw what appears to be standard GP5 40mm gas mask tubes used for the respirator. If this is the case I should be able to source a pair of these?

Permitting that they receive new stock, of course! In the meantime I'll see if I can find anything locally is still an option as well.

06A / 6A - same thing. The former is the actual item code.

A small update but it's a start! My project has officially begun with the arrival of my SpecOps gloves and surplus scarf. Now that the updated Sean Fields files are out there I plan to start getting the printing of armour pieces arranged in the very near future.

Great start!

You’ll find the SF2 files much improved thanks to our research post The Mandalorian episode. Look forward to seeing them printed up.
