nanotek[CMD-DWM]
As this would appear on the surface to simply be the same costume as the Phase 2 Electrostaff Specialist with some paint/colour changes, I shall start with a simple copy and paste from our recently finalised Electrostaff rewrite, and we can work through one by one making changes as necessary. Detail bolts and screws are metal to gun metal grey in color. Igniter has some copper coloring. Power setting adjuster detail lever is metal or gun metal grey. Sniper scope is metal or gun metal grey. Functioning Blue LED is installed in barrel. Blaster is weathered. Link to comment
tipperaryred[CMD-DCA]
Starting at the beginning. The changes in yellow seem simple enough. As far as I can tell there are no changes from the Electrostaff Trooper helmet other than the edges of the lower tubes being painted red instead of grey. One thing that did stand out though, is that I really struggled to make sense of some of the text from the original Electrostaff CRL. When we revised this I was mostly looking for new detail that could be added thanks to the new high resolution screen caps we had access to. I can't have been looking too critically at the existing text however, because I can't follow a lot of it now. It might just be my lack of familiarity with some of the terminology though, so I'd appreciate any feedback on the notes I've added in purple below. Screens added in below are from the Electrostaff rather than the Commander, simply because they are the highest quality ones we have at this point. Thanks! Helmet Realistic style Purge Trooper helmet. Note that this helmet differs from the Airborne Trooper helmet sculpt. Armor is painted satin black. Helmet has a rounded dome with no mohawk. Helmet has a narrow red eye lens. The etched lines on the face of a standard Airborne Trooper helmet are not present. Along each side of the eye lens are semi circular intake vents with a protruding tube extending towards back of helmet. Vent does not feature open slits. Vent features twelve raised, vertical bars that are evenly spaced along the length of the vent. I cannot see anything matching this description on the upper vents that this sub-bullet point is nested under. Is this referring instead to the grey panel located on either side of the lowest tube? This is the only place I can see raised vertical bars, and even here I count 13 on each side, not 12. Area below the nose bridge splits open to the base and has a gray, vertical inset vocoder column detail. The front face of the delta piece features two raised rectangles. Where are the raised rectangles? There also seems to be no description of the lowest part of the vocoder? The front face of the delta piece features 10 ribs. Base of helmet has two widened ventilation tube bands with the widest tube band on bottom. Ends of the smaller tube band, above the helmet base, have a black mesh opening in front. Is this supposed to say the "wider" tube band, not the smaller? The smaller tube has grey vents inset as described below. Two black round aerators are located in the split area in front of lower tube band. These also look grey/silver, not black? The front edges of the lowest tube band are painted red. A small red square is painted on the underside of the vocoder opening in the lowest tube band. The entire top interior edge is painted red on each side, is that what this refers to? I cannot see a red square painted anywhere. Base tube band has elliptical shaped inset ventilation detail with vertical ribbing at the front cheek areas. The vents are painted dark gray. The front end of the vent insert is squared off Helmet has an indented band that extends around the back of the helmet. There seem to be two indented bands? One at the rear top, one at the rear bottom. Squared off rib detail at the base of the helmet dome is a different tone of satin black. Armor has little to no weathering. Any weathering present consists of gray tones. Visor lens is red. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): The visor has a red lighting effect that matches the reference photos. Mahalogram
I noticed that the Commander guide requires an under suit that is “non-textured”, whereas the Electrostaff Specialist requires an under suit with very specific ribbing requirements. The Commander models from Fallen Order, though, have the same ribbed under suit as the Electrostaff Specialists (see attached image). Link to comment
IcyTrooper[CMD-DL]
That is true, we inherited the these CRLs (minus the Phase 2 Purge Trooper) from the Clone Trooper Detachment, so we have yet to update them. A new model would be required for the full CRL update/refresh so that the pictures match the text. If we don't have a builder willing to do the update then the text is going to remain the same for the undersuit so that there isn't a discrepancy between the images and text. If you're interested in being the model for it then let us know! 1 Link to comment
Mahalogram
@IcyTrooper If it hasn’t been done by the time I finish mine, I’d love to submit mine for consideration! I just started this build though, so it’s likely going to be a while. Thank you for the opportunity! 3 Link to comment
tipperaryred[CMD-DCA]
Yep, I'm more than happy to jump back into this and continue work on the text if we have one or more builders in progress. As a general rule, it is safe to say that for any shared components between the two costumes, the reviewed Commander CRL will largely mirror the Electrostaff Specialist. But if you'd like to build towards the higher standard, make sure that you work with us here so that we can be sure that what you're building matches the evolving text review 🙂 1 Link to comment
Semix
Hello guys, I'm going to start building a Purge Trooper Commander next year and I have a question because some people say the current CRL is being revised and I'm wondering how specifically the CRL is being revised so I shouldn't bother with that at all current CRL? or is it just about something like the command hump and the undersuit, or is there specific changes to the individual pieces of armor? Right now the current CRL is staying as is until we have a model to update it with new pictures. It will more closely align to the Purge Trooper Phase I: Electrostaff Specialist as that in-game model is the same. When we have a model for it we will revisit the text. Link to comment

So I could also look for an undersuit for the commander that is like the one of the specialist or, in general, look more towards the specialist CRL but still do the red pauldron and the red stripe on the kama, because technically it should Stay almost the same and make the command buckel silver like in the game, right? because in the current crl it is black Link to comment

Just keep in mind that the GMLs are going to be referencing the current CRL, although that shouldn't probably be a big deal when it comes to this one. If you're interested in being the model for it, that could also work and would be the basis for updating the CRL images and text so they flow together. Link to comment

I'm relatively new so I don't know much about it, sorry It's all good, this is a unique situation. The CRL in its current form is currently approvable with hard parts/soft parts as they exist in the current CRL. That is what your GML will reference with the current pictures and text. It would be the discretion of your GML if they were to use the current CRL and allow any slight modifications that would cater to the Electrostaff Specialist to get it more in line with the video game images; otherwise, you'd need to build it to the current CRL and not the proposed one. I don't have a timeline for updating this CRL since we'd need a model to update it. I'm not a fan of updating the text but not the model images, therefore we'd need to do both the text and pictures at the same time. We are happy to accept anyone as a model, but there is a lot of work that goes into that with pictures being taken and making sure the armor matches the text and reference images (e.g., could require further modifications, etc.). That is something we can move this week. I'll have to get resources in on it since we have a few other CRLs that are being worked on at this time.
