MbIAT[TX]
I'd like to create Lt. Sunber next, but I am drawing an absolute blank on the comlink, comlink clip and those specific macrobinoculars in the CRL. No one seems to make them. Does anyone here have the STLs? If not, how does someone get approval for that CRL? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! 1 Link to comment
Hoda[CMD-DCA]
Yeah .. my guy went AWOL. @Beau Thackerwhere did you end up getting your items? 1 1 Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
i look at STLs often for a lot of things and I have not run across that. 2 Link to comment
Beau Thacker[CMD-DCA]
I have emailed the guy I got mine from to see if he still does them or can do them, please give me till he replies to me. Beau 2 Link to comment

Beau Thacker[CMD-DCA]
No reply on the email but i found his other social address that seems active, so I have left him a message. If he will maybe he will give STLs if he is not doing them no more, but I know he bought like 10 3D printers and such. If he contacts me, I will let you know. I will also be looking for someone that could possibly make those also. Beau 2 Link to comment

Beau Thacker[CMD-DCA]
Just to keep you in the loop, my guy has not replied yet but I may have found someone that can do it. When they get back from Japan he will look and see. So some hope for both the comms and binocs 2 Link to comment
MbIAT[TX]
@Beau Thacker I appreciate the update and I'll keep my fingers crossed! I appreciate you looking into this! I ordered the Sunber Holster from the original CRL maker, so well on my way. SE-14R printed and sanding and fitting ongoing... 3 Link to comment

DarthBerry[501st]
Aloha guys! I stumbled in here and always thought this was a cool CRL. They looked like simple parts so I put something together. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7033021 2 Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
hmm! maybe this is the set of files we ahve been looking for. Not familiar with this maker. Let me downlaod and get some images of it opened in the slicer. 1 Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
upon review of the file linked above it certianly looks like the Sunber parts file we ahve used int eh past. The Macro is a hollow oval, no front or back. The comm is a bit large. The macro is flat huge. Scaling will fix that. These should print in a few hours, and will require sanding/ smoothing becaues of the faceting seen on the model, but otherwise this file should be able to be used. 2 1 Link to comment

These were my files, I can touch them up if you give me some pointers on size. The items are a little inconsistent in the comics so I just eyeballed it from the CRL. The Macro should print easy since its hollow and then you can trim a piece of red see-through plastic and glue it to the lip I place at the front. I can change the facets to rounded edges, it looked like a sharp edge to me just as easy either way. 3 Link to comment
pyro[TX]
I Commissioned the comlink from this guy on etsy, he doesnt have it listed but if you message him he should still have the files for it. https://www.etsy.com/shop/JawaBrothersCustoms?ref=yr_purchases&page=3#items 1 Link to comment
MbIAT[TX]
Evening folks - I printed at 75% and it's a similar size to other comlinks, but the holder doesn't hold the comlink, just allows it to slip thru. I'm thinking of making the holder slightly smaller so it is tighter. 1 Link to comment

I was thinking it would glued in place after painting so I left some room since I didn't see any location to tighten or flex the ring on the CRL. Scaling down in slicer and sanding it to fit would be good if you plan to pull it out and put it back for photos/poses. 1 1 Link to comment
MbIAT[TX]
Morning all. I find it so funny I started this thread April 6th and was completely out of luck, and then this week I asked a designer I met to do up a fresh comms STL for me, and then I hear from @DarthBerry with files, then @pyrochimes in and all of a sudden I have three different options. LOL Feast or famine! I appreciate the support though! I noticed on the CRL that the model that it has a twist lock device to hold the comlink in the holder, and Pyro's link to JawaBrothersCustoms has that. I've reached out to them on cost. @Blackwatch I'm thinking of using and scaling @DarthBerry's Macros to fit in the bino pouch - what did you mean by "will require sanding/smoothing because of the faceting seen on the model"? I know usually all PLA prints require some sanding, but is there something specific you see I'm missing? 2 Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
morning everyone Luke I didnt realize these were your files, and we as a community thank you for rendering this. I can print all day long but I have not the first clue how to make a file like this. I opened up he files in the Bambu Slic3r and if you dial in on the file you'll note that they are pretty big overall and need to be scaled down. The Macrobinocular needs to be scaled to fit inside the big pouch and the comm device sits entirely on top of the shoulderstrap. Per Legion policy all 3d prints must be smoothed to eliminate layer lines. In this case what Im referring to is the faceting, not the layer lines Taking a look at the comm the round surface is created by billions of triangles forming a facet, joined at the edge forming an arc, which forms a curve forming a shape. All 3d files work this way. For those who may not be familiar with printing and what the real outcome of printing is, its not perfect off the printer plate. My DLT19X scope took significant work to knock down the HUGE facets the scope printed with. These facets on the comm and Macro look pretty small and should be smoothed down with files and sanding boards pretty easily. For Level 2 we are definitely looking for all printing artifacts to be removed. This is the kind of faceting im describing, on m DLT19x scope. It had to be rounded down to smooth. 3 Link to comment

I scaled everything to 75%, added a twist lock of the comlink, smoothed out the bottom comlink so it's more of a radius than chamfer, and touched up the dimensions of the bits on the Macro to make it scale better. I also added an inner lip on the Macro so you can put red lenses on the eye side of it. Let me know if there's any other edits you guys can think of and I'll try to pick them up! 6 hours ago, Blackwatch said: Luke I didnt realize these were your files, and we as a community thank you for rendering this. If there's any other props that Spec Ops folks are having trouble sourcing, please let me know and I can take a shot at it. I'm still working on the Forest Trooper in the background but 3D modeling is much easier than painting for me. 3 Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
Luke I just pulled everthing into the slicer and it looks great. THANK YOU so much for giving our next generation of Sunbers the ability to get the parts they need to get approved. Here's what I come up with, scaling is great and the pin on the comm/ holder will keep it in place. 3 Link to comment

IcyTrooper[CMD-DWM]
Another option if someone doesn't want to resize the comlink holder would be to use a little foam around the inside to keep it snug. Link to comment
