MbIAT[TX]
Afternoon. The CRL says "Weathering of ammo belt is encouraged.", but doesn't say how much or little is encouraged. LOL Just on edges with brown/green/black? Scuff marks all over? Rub it in the dirt? Paint it all Olive Green (to not stand out as much against costume, something I think troops would do) and then scuff it and dirty it? Thoughts? Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
Hi Paul take a look at the reference images that I wrote the CRL from. These guys are working in the mud and slop and the Empire's Army isn't exactly a clean spit and polish army. Even the Tks get in the mud with officers like Sunbur leading from the front. The Sappers get even dirtier and its just that plain old dirt. The CRL image shows a very lightly weathered belt. 1 Link to comment
MbIAT[TX]
I guess that's my point. The comics don't really show weathering on the belts, likely due to the artist being limited to portray that. It's mostly mud on uniform legs and boots. The CRL show's lightly weathered as you say, and besides that the only mention of weathering is on the boots. So is the answer "like the CRL picture and no more"? I have a complete belt from a retired TK that has seen better days and is likely more weathered than that. Just wondering if that would work or if I'd have to clean it and re-weather. Link to comment
IcyTrooper[CMD-DWM]
The real answer would be, check with your GML to see what they would approve. Even though we are in charge of the CRLs, they are the ones approving it. For our answer, the top of the CRL does mention "Soft parts may be slightly weathered with scuffs/dirt." which applies to the belt proper/canvas and would extend to consistency amongst the rest of the costume. We can look into perhaps adding "lightly weathered" going forward after the CRL system is overhauled. If you do it like the CRL picture I can't see how that'd be wrong. 1 Link to comment
Blackwatch[CMD-DCA]
yeah Paul if youve got a beat up old belt, throw a bit of weathering on it and rock it. Not Mimban trooper level weathering, but light enough that its not Death Star TK white. 1 Link to comment
