Yeah man, Great stuff!

I was perusing Cushman's paintball yesterday and found out that he's now selling a vacformed sonix victory. It isn't perfect but it's cheap and takes alot of work out of the backpack for anyone interested in doing an Elite. Couldn't buy one though because his website advised he could not get paypal money right now. Don't know what that's about. Anywho just FYI
-
Yeah, wow I didn't know either. All the work you've been doing on your custom armor projects is awesome so who knows what you'll be doing in the years to come. Good luck
-
So have you submitted this yet?
-
Very cool Sith. You're motivating me to hurry the heck up. Looks good to me. What do you got left till your Ready for Approval?

I ended up using a rubber drain cover for my dish I think. It was $1 at big lots I think. I used 2" tube I think. my plate was .060 HIPS so it may have been more flexible but I was able to wrap it and then with clamps and e6000 get it to stay put. Hope that helps

Thanks much Scootch. Gotta take care of that this week

Awesome, worked like a charm this weekend

Thanks for the support guys. I'm having my first unofficial troop on saturday. Still haven't got my neckseal but I'm gonna use a Balaclava from work to cover my neck up. I'm taking a break this week from working on the armor though. Been at work so much haven't had time for the fam. But the only major thing left I think is the radio. Oh yeah and if anybody could let me know a good way to attach the handguards and the ammo pouches it'd be much appreciated. I was also wondering if I should put a strap from the back to the chest peice or if it's supposed to hang loose? Thanks again everyone

The pad on there is actually craft foam. I'm using it to make all the details on the radio. I'm also thinking about putting a speaker inside and a backlight for the frequency thingie (technical term) that goes in the upper left corner as you look at it. But first I need to get all the basic forms on it. It takes a long time but it's very inexpensive. $5 for the foam sheets and $4 for the box at Joann's. It'll be interesting to paint though.

Finally got the thighs looking how I wanted them. Got the shims put in, Hope they are good. I had so much fun making them (pain in the neck) Also took a pose pic just for fun. http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0558.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0559.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0555.jpg Started working on my radio. It's gonna take a long time... http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0563.jpg Questions for anyone reading. How do you attach/wear your handguards? How do you attach/wear your Ammo pouches? -Thanks everyone

Yay arms are all done! http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0542.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0547.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0546.jpg

Looks good to me. I think the lighting on the hunt area affected the color to create the tarnished look. It seems like there's alot of orange in that area that possibly caused the color palette to change slightly. I think the screenshots where the trooper is dsiplayed absent any outside influence is more similar to the color you've chosen FiveZero. But maybe using some clear coat like IZ did to mute the gold might help the coclor matching. Looks good though

Time to rent the game then Thanks

So is this version of the jump trooper still acceptable? http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/3/33/ImperialJet-trooper_TFU_Wii.jpg

NM found the paint... Google a duh

Yes Very Cool stuff five zero. Can't wait to see the medic. When money permits I'll be building one for my wife. She likes the color scheme alot. So where can I get that spray paint? Anywhere in particular or online only? -thanks

Gotta Love Rustoleum!

Got the gold stripes on today as well as my buttons. I'll probably have the radio done this weekend. Got some craft foam so I'll see how that works out. Hopefully I can clear coat all the gold in a few days.

Shadowtrooper (Jedi Knight II) Reference
ACJay replied to izzi's topic in Shadowtrooper (Jedi Knight II)
Crazy, Looks like Raiden from MGS with a lightsaber. Note- A light saber could make even Kim Jong Il look cool -
Thanks iz Sith painted the rim and the leather tabs gold along with the platform itself on the pauldron. I thought it looked really cool like that and matched the TCG ref really well. I'm getting fond of the stitching so I'll probably leave until the leather shows some wear and needs some leather luster.

Thanks for the advice Sith

Hey iz, I was planning on wearing my armor to do a toys for tots fundraiser for my aunt and I was also thinking about doing some bell ringing for the salvation army since I've done some other fundraisers for them in the past. I am not in any way going to put myself out as a representative of the 501st until I get my TX but I wanted to make sure this was ok before I did it. I was also wondering how I could get some real 501st members out for a troop if any other events come up in the near future. -Thanks iz

Lots a work in the past few days. I cleaned up the gold lines hope they are acceptable Izz Refinished my pauldron with Rustoleum. Didn't realize I had used Krylon the first time. Also, clear coated. Looks so much better with the gloss. I also used Sith'ari's paint scheme. Thanks Sith hope you don't mind. It just looked too good to pass up. http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0523.jpg Got my black leather pouches as well. Question for Iz on this. Should I paint the seams black as they are currently white? http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0522.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0521.jpg Made some shims out of... cutting board plastic sheets. They are really flexible and about the same thickness as the original armor. They also took paint really well. I cut the thighs and the shins to have a nice straight line for the shim to go down. The thighs fit made the back into an hourglass so I cut out the hourglass with a nice rectangle for the shim and the shins weren't going over my shoes quite riight without being opened up. The pic of my lower half that I thought looked good had the shins open in the back so I decided to use the shims. I'm also going to use the shims on the side torso area. http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0520.jpg I also redid some snaps with canvas instead of plastic squares. The plastic was probably too thick and didn't allow the snap to set correctly. http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0518.jpg http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0519.jpg And finally I did a complete sand primer and repaint of every peice of armor. The armor in my opinion looks way better than the original black paint job and if it's screwed up I can only blame myself http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa447/ACJaynScuttle/IMG_0517.jpg

Awesome job Para. I was wondering what happened with this. I actually stumbled on this in a google search in the zeta boards at work. I'm glad to see the near completion. So have you been approved yet. The suit looks great!
