You may be able to find a similar boot in 9.5 women's sizes without the decorative stitching. Might be worth a search.
-
I would go with green boots for two reasons: In the image above the boots have more of a green tint to them than the combat engineer boots next to them. In the series it has been a general rule that the boots have matched the color of the jumpsuit worn. -iz

As far as the Pantone color goes, the staff feels specifying of would be too restricting, a "close enough" color judged from the images in the CRL is usually enough. As mentioned above, it's possible that even a tunic leaning more towards olive can be made to appear more Grey with the right weathering. Right now I'll leave the color as is, but I'll look to see if there are any similar instances in the current CRLs out there and how that was worded.

Thoughts on those jacket panels next to the zipper?
-
These are the same size as the original run. I would however, like to go back and revisit the size. I always felt that these may have been a bit too large compared to those shown in the comics. If we can have another run with a greater accuracy, that would be best. Though the size does change from panel to panel, I don't believe any of them are as large as our current patches are. Maybe I'll play around with resizing this image and see if I can print something out that looks closer to the reference images.

Hey ya! Thanks for starting on gathering resources for a new costume. However, the Imperial medic shown in your first post, and the Mudtrooper Battlefield Medics are two different units, and the references shouldn't be mixed to avoid confusion. The Mudtrooper CRL will have a medic version, it's just currently undecided as of yet if it will be a simple parts swap option or if it warrants its own CRL. Thanks!

With all the new references in hand let's push forward. I think I'm going to make this the discussion thread and create a new locked thread to post up the descriptions that we agree on. That being said let's attack this one piece at a time starting with the base layers and working our way out to the armor. We;re going to start with the pants and tunic. THe pants should be rather easy, but I know the tunic has some disagreements. Here, we are not pinning down which pants and jackets fit the mold. Rather we are defining what features need to be present for the pants or jacket to pass inspection. Pants Pants are Black BDU/Work pants with double reinforced thighs. They do not have pockets or other adornment on the legs. Shall be moderately to heavily weathered. Anything else that needs to be added to the pants? Tunic/Jacket A long-sleeved, Olive Drab or Field Grey, jacket that falls between upper and mid thigh. - (Do we have references for both colors or do we need to choose only one?) Shall be moderately to heavily weathered. Has a ??? collar. - (I'm assuming a mandarin collar but I can't find an exact reference due to the scarves) Has two "flaps" on either side of the front zipper approximately ??? in width. - (Do we have a measurement here?) Has a stitched "cuff" on the sleeve approximately ??? in height. - (Every jacket I can see has that stitching up the forearm that is either a cuff or gives the appearance of one. They look to be around 5-6" high to me. What is everyone else's thoughts on this?) If pockets are present they are hidden or barely noticable. Optional Level 2: Jacket is made of a heavy wool twill or similar material. There is an imperial cog patch sewn on each shoulder. No pockets are present on jacket. Is there anything else that is being missed on the jacket?

Awesome work. I'm going to be going through all the new images this week and posting to the top any new references or better quality references of the ones we currently have. I know people have been anxiously waiting for this unit to be approved, but with information and images still being released and gathered, pushing it through has been a bit premature. Hopefully with all the new collaboration on this unit and the references shared, we'll have what we need to complete at least a base standard for 501st approval and can build from there.

Sounds like a plan. You can even send one to me, for a comparison against the original. I can take a picture and ship it back to you.

Olive Grey Denim... that'll be fun to find, or dye!

Will do! I have some events to take care of this weekend and with the SW:E trooper on track, we should be digging into this next week. Thanks so much for sharing.

A ton to review! Thanks!

New CRL Proposal: Imperial Army Trooper (SW:E) *Will go live on 7/23*
izzi replied to izzi's topic in Imperial Army Trooper
Locking this down until it goes live on 7/23/2018. Some minor changes are being made to the level 2 requirements. Full details will be disclosed when they are settled on. -iz -
News from the CRL Team and LMOs: We are making headway on the Mudtrooper CRL see the first post for a link to the discussion. Feel free to chime in and share your knowledge. The accurate SW:E version of the Imperial Army Trooper will go live on Monday, 7/23/2018, and will replace the current Trooper CRL. This means that any costume that is being built to the current Trooper standards needs to be submitted and approved by 7/22/2018. That's about 2 weeks away. The current IA Trooper CRL will no longer be valid after 7/22/2018.

Okay, I'm unsure the LMOs would approve it with those waist pockets as the stitching is pretty prominent and they seem to sit on top of the jumpsuit, instead of being built into it, like a normal pant pocket. However, you can always give it a go and see what they say. -iz

Just checking in. I'm liking the discussion and additional references that are being brought forward for consideration. I'm currently wrapping things up on the SW:E Army Trooper with the LMOs and will be back to this shortly. If anyone wants to move ahead, the next step will be taking the references and comparing them with the text. Because this is a very detailed kit, it'll be a piece by piece method. Feel free to take the references for a piece (I.e. chest armor) and break it down in comparison to the proposed requirements. Then you may also compare it to the proposed model photo if you'd like and state whether you would find it to meet the requirements, or if you believe it does not meet the requirements. If it does not meet them, then it must clearly be stated why the proposed model photo doesn't meet the requirements. Thanks everyone for your enthusiasm and sharing your knowledge on this unit. -iz
-
I think they're out of production, so people are finding them through web searches and eBay. David, get me a picture of you suited up in your engineer wearing those. If they work and look correct I'm going to submit it the to LMOs for level 2. People have bought them, but no one has supplied a photo of them actually being worn in relation to the rest of the body for an accurate comparison.
-
The top of the jumpsuit seems to have a triangular section just below the collar. Any way to make it more vertical like the rest of the flap that hides the zipper?
-
Yep! Got em! We're just putting the finishing touches on the text with the LMOs, then we'll start looking at pictures and models/approvals. -iz
-
Looking good! A couple notes on the suit: You'll need to extend the mandarin collar tab past the center point by a couple inches. When you do that, rectangular stitching is actually seen on the end of his collar instead of a snap, so you'll probably want to add a Velcro closure. You'll also want to remove that button at the top just below the collar and modify the front panel to go as vertical as possible, instead of out at an angle to meet that button. I would probably remove the two front pockets just below the belt as well. They're making the legs look cluttered and aren't shown in any of the references anyway. Excited to see this happening, and interested in seeing how you finish your accessories. -iz

New CRL Proposal: Imperial Army Trooper (SW:E) *Will go live on 7/23*
izzi replied to izzi's topic in Imperial Army Trooper
Good news this is currently getting finalized. We should have an idea about how this will affect the current CRL shortly. -
Sweet! When you lower those patches down, I'll need a pic of your jumpsuit for the CRL. What we currently have isn't really up to par.

New CRL Proposal: Imperial Army Officer (Various Sources)
izzi replied to izzi's topic in Imperial Army Officer
We do not have a picture of the back, however a discussion with Toddo of the LMO team took place at length looking at this character. The center picture above is actually a young General Veers in an army uniform taken from the New Essential Guide to Characters. Knowing it's Veers and how the chest armor is the same, we were able to agree that the back would be the same as Veers wore as when he commanded the AT-AT in ESB. The headset, I believe is the same for both the crewman and the AT-AT commander, and would be the style we're looking for.- 89 replies

Might be a good time to look back at the reference material and double check the sizing with the references.
