Pies! Enemy number one of the Empire
-
Dude I know! But now I feel like I'm seeing more of the groove ones. Crazy. I'll get printing on the 10.5 one of these days ... need to get the ventilation sorted in the basement hahahaha don't want to accelerate dying 🤣

Hey TJ - I think I read in the CRL thread early on that you are thinking about adding hooks to your IB tunic ... did you ever go about doing that? Curious to see how you'll go about doing it as I'm also thinking of adding that small detail - never played with these before.
-
And now, the full suit up!
-
Belt boxes - my first one with the pill shaped on top! Ezra from BaileyBuilds helped me with the boxes - they hit it with Rust-Oleum matte gunmetal gray for this color.

Let's talk belts. One of the differences between these new non-OT Imperial belts, with the OT ones, is the code discs that people have on them. I know it's not usually super noticeable for most people, but I'm sometimes nitpicky with the details, so calling it out here. The CRL text states this: What does that mean? Well, it means this No "grooves". The original code disc had grooves because they were turntable pulleys. Check out the specs here: https://tk3493.com/tie-armoury/tie-fighter-pilot-anh/imperial-code-disk/ See the difference?

Let's be real here, this is not really a "build" thread as it's really mostly just a ... "see what I did!" thread. The soft parts for this costume is relatively easy. There are a few vendors out there making this suit, I happen to have gotten mine from Vince @ KeepTrooping (formerly ImperialBoots). Eventually, KT will be offering Ferrix set as well (black version of this costume), so I look forward to that. I WILL say, @sonfield turned me onto the Dylon dye pod, and it was the easiest dying job I have ever done (and I've dyed a lot of things in the past, mostly with RIT). This baby here, all you need to do is open the top, and drop them into the washing machine (follow instructions), and throw in your hat, trousers, and jacket, and you're good to go. To ensure even-ess, what I did was pausing the wash cycle every once in a while to swirl the fabric around, to make sure you get good coverage. With their preset amount, you don't have to worry about ratios like when it comes to other powder dying approaches. These are the suits after they came out of the wash, already looking pretty good I THINK eventually I might want them to be darker, but for now I'm satisfied!

Huh? I don't think anyone said that. There's going to be 3 versions of this CRL - one with armor and soft cap, one with armor and helmet, and one only with soft goods. -

Excellent! That pod is magical! -
Picture please! Though, since this is an army trooper, I think chipped paints here and there are fine - weathering! We work hard! 😂

This is the Imperial Boots set and, I went over the CRL line by line, pretty sure they line up nicely (at least for lvl 1 - I didn't look too close at lvl 2 yet). Check out my 360 here for more photos https://imgur.com/a/jqsxYYQ Hiya Storm! I also used Dylon. I ended up using the "pod" version of their dye vs. the powder ones, and the color I got is ... what I have now. I would recommend continuing this conversation over at @TeaJay's post here so we can centralize all the color conversations in one place -
Even with the close up I can barely tell the difference. I think you're fine. Real life olive green uniforms sometimes are mismatched also, believe it or not, so it happens. Also, are these images mirrored? Just wanted to make sure the stripes on your tunic are on the right sleeves

I'd love to know this as well ... have not been able to track down exact model used. Some people have also speculated that greeblies were added to it as well, which is just going to further throw off the search ... -

Honestly, agreed w TJ - you can't tell at all! Looks great. I used Dylon (pod) as well. Worked like magic. -

Agreed w/ Ryan here ... I think the horse is dead. My recommendation is also, let's move on for now, and once we get a more definitive answer that everyone can agree on, we can always come back and update the CRL (if we want to do that for L2 detail). In the past few years, LFL has done an awesome job of parading around the costumes ... I feel good that we will see one of those helmets in the wild one of these days *fingers crossed for Celebration*? -

Waiting for that CRL ... (All the parts are here!) -
Hahahaha I think the truth is most people don't think too hard on what a cargo pocket is - most probably just assumed any pockets present on mid-thigh are cargo pockets.

To be honest, I don't know we'd need to go too specific beyond "olive green" for the color. It's the same challenge we ran into w the IATs, knowing that there's always going to be many variations like it's been pointed out so far. I think as long as it's consistent (hat, jacket, trousers), we should be good. -

Do we want to talk about the optionality of one over the other? Or do we want to do versioning of a trooper w a helmet, and a version with a hat, etc. (Hi everyone! Exciting to see this moving - just caught up on all the things, exciting to see more army units!!!!!) -
Yes!! Another IAT build! Looks like you are well on your way for the boots. For the patch location - in case you haven't fixed the positioning yet, I liked this verbiage from the Imperial Army Engineer (which, maybe we should include the same w the IAT and Lt Sunber CRLs)
